This week kicks off National Prevention Week! AHM staff will be on-site at RHAM High School during lunch waves May 11th - May 15th, to engage with students, share educational resources, and hand out fun freebies. The focus will be on key National Prevention Week topics, including: Mental Health Awareness, Cannabis, Va**ng, Alcohol, and Opioids. Students are encouraged to stop by the Prevention table to learn more, ask questions, and get connected with helpful resources that support healthy choices and overall well-being. Registration for AHM's Project Graduation event is now open for RHAM graduating seniors! This year’s event will be held at Spare Time Entertainment in Vernon on June 16th, the night of RHAM High School graduation. AHM’s number one goal is to keep our RHAM graduates safe on an evening that statistically ranks as the highest in car accidents due to impairment. AHM Youth & Family Services proudly coordinates Project Graduation and has done so for over 25 years, with thousands of graduates attending this celebration. *A scholarship is available for those who are experiencing financial hardship. SAVE THE DATE for National Take-Back Day! The Spring National Take-Back Event will be located at Hebron's Police Department/Fire Department, at 44 Main Street, Hebron, Saturday, April 25th, from 9 am – 12 pm. AHM’s Coalition for a Healthy and Empowered Community (CHEC), in partnership with the Connecticut State Police, hosts free Take-Back Events in Spring & Fall for our community members to properly dispose of old and unneeded prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and vitamins anonymously. Unused and expired prescription medications are a public safety issue. The proper disposal of unneeded drugs saves lives and protects the environment and our overall community. *NO SHARPS collected at this time. We are excited to offer several QPR & Narcan Training opportunities this Winter & Spring! This FREE training will include: The Good Samaritan Law, support information and resources, and warning signs of a su***de crisis and how to respond. Participants will receive a QPR (Question, Persuade, Respond) training booklet and a 2-dose supply of Narcan, an opioid overdose treatment. Dates and times include: Tuesday, 1/20, 6-7:15 pm, Monday, 2/23, 11:30- 12:45 pm, Tuesday, 3/10, 6-7:15 pm,
