A meaningful step forward for Love & Light Wellness.
Thank you to VFW (Veterans Of Foreign Wars) Ben Russo 3586 administration for welcoming us and generously providing a venue for our Reading Glasses Drive. We’re grateful for your support and for believing in a project that will help bring reading glasses to seniors in rural South Africa.
We’re excited to share more as we prepare for this special day. Please mark your calendar for November 22, and join us in supporting seniors’ access to reading glasses. More details coming soon!

We’re expanding our reading glasses drive! We’re now collecting:

* Reading glasses
* New or gently used prescription glasses
* Frames in good condition
Our optometrist partner will take suitable glasses and frames to a lab in South Africa to be renewed for community use.
If you have glasses or frames to donate, please message us. Every pair brings us closer to helping seniors in South Africa see more clearly. Thank you for being part of this work!

We’re thrilled to welcome Rita Teka as our first optometrist partner in South Africa!

A dear friend, Kapari Moraka, introduced us after hearing us reach out to eye care professionals who might believe in this cause. Rita not only believes in it, she has shared her wisdom, offered meaningful direction, and shown a wonderful desire to be involved. We’re already putting her guidance to work, and we feel truly blessed to partner with her and the Rita Teka Foundation.
Her foundation is working toward a future where every person in South Africa, regardless of economic circumstances, can access quality eye care. Its mission to improve eye health and help prevent vision loss through accessible care, education, and support aligns beautifully with our hope to bring reading glasses to seniors in rural communities.
Thank you, Rita, for your generosity, your vision, and your commitment. We’re excited for what we can accomplish together! 🙏🏾

Our focus this year is seniors, but these messages reveal a wider need.

That’s the promise our team believes in. Now we’re doing the work behind it: reaching out to optometrists, clinics, universities, and community organizations in South Africa to build the partnerships that will help us serve seniors with care.
Finding the right partners takes time. Some conversations are just beginning, and we’re still knocking on doors. But every introduction, every reply, and every person willing to help brings us closer.

The Black Physicians of Utah Health & Wellness Expo is happening today until 5 p.m. at the University of Utah Student Union Building. Entry is free, with health screenings, mental health support, nutrition advice, and local vendors.
As we grow Love and Light Wellness and our reading glasses drive for seniors in South Africa, we’re always glad to learn about people bringing health and wellness into their communities. We hope to connect with Black Physicians of Utah Black at a future event! 💜
