The structure was used over the years extensively by the school district for band concerts as well as for Christmas parties, reginal meetings for fraternal groups, state agency conferences, open mic talent shows, high school drama productions, and youth groups. The City Hall offices were in the building until the late 1990s as well as a Masonic Lodge which provided strong government and fraternal

leadership for a growing community. Traveling shows came through the area in the early years before television and move theaters to provide entertainment for the regional area in Southeastern Oklahoma. Patrons of the arts are needed to help restore the building. Patrons shall receive season tickets, free dinners, a commemorative souvenir and advertisement in play bills. Help us at this yearlong gala celebration and enjoy the food and entertainment in the gateway area to the Ouachita National Forest in southeastern Oklahoma. ACADEMY PRESENTS SPRING FLING SHOW

Gather up the kids and family to join the Heavener Drama Academy Spring Fling Show on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 2 P.M. in the Heavener lunch room building across from the elementary school. The adults, teens, and children have been working on theater skills in drama, vocal music, and movement routines to give you an entertaining one hour show. The show is free to the public.

The Heavener Drama Academy is open to all adults, teens, and children interested in theater arts. This project is made possible with support from the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. For information contact Barbara J. Tyson at 918 653-2187.
