Furever home update! Anna and Elsa were adopted from us in early 2025 after spending a long time trying to find their furever home. Here is what their family had to say about them!

These gals are so much fun! They love running around the room for a few minutes followed by immediately laying back down to relax šŸ™‚.

*This is a courtesy listing, so Bunny Lu does not currently have this bunny at our rescue. If interested in adopting Annie, please reach out to us and we can help coordinate with the current owner.

Hi! My name is Annie. I’m a three year old Dutch female looking for a forever home where I can have more indoor space and hop around with other bunnies. My owner has had me since I was a ~3-4 month old baby bun and I have exclusively been a single indoor rabbit my entire life, but I would love to make a bunny friend! I am spayed and litter box trained. My favorite veggies are parsley and Radishes and I go nuts for nibble rings and dried sweet peas. I am a tad shy (hate being picked up!) but am very affectionate and will give you bunny kisses and do circle-eights around your feet when you feed me.

Maura and Coco, two of Bunny Lu’s beloved sanctuary bunnies and rescue ambassadors, are absolutely thriving at our new property in Heathesville! They’ve been busy exploring every corner of their new home, and it’s been such a joy to watch them settle in.
Even more exciting? Coco, who has always been too timid to step on anything but rugs, has surprised us all by deciding this new flooring is perfectly acceptable. We love seeing his confidence grow in such a big way!

We have amazing news!! After nearly 3 years of trying to find their furever home, Fred and Ginger have finally done it!

These two bunnies were born at Bunny Lu when their pregnant mother was surrendered to us. They were known as Marshmallow and Vicki for a long time, but were recently renamed. We are so grateful that they have finally found a home where we know they will thrive!

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our GoFundMe so far! We wanted to share this update we received on Carmello as she continues to recover in a foster home. If you would like to donate to her ongoing vet visits and costs, here is the GoFundMe link for this: https://gofund.me/43b1c5995

Carm loves her new setup. She was previously urinating a lot due to infection- that is now better, and her poo is back to nice little pebbles. She’s eating and drinking. (Working on the eating more hay thing- she’s a little stubborn with this lol) Bottom end looks so much better already and there are finally scabs where everything is healing.Ā Ā Skin is now back to light pink color and not all raw. She is bending and cleaning herself- back legs and bottom- which she was not doing previously. No longer staying wet or being scalded from her urine, and meds given daily as instructed.

We are asking for help for a rabbit who has endured unimaginable neglect.

This sweet bunny is named Carmello and was recently brought to our attention after being kept outside in unsafe and inhumane conditions. Because of how she was being kept, she is suffering from severe urine scalding, multiple open wounds, and fly strike—an extremely painful and life-threatening condition where flies lay eggs in the skin. Tragically, maggots had already begun burrowing into her body.

Carmello was rushed to the vet immediately, where treatment has begun. She is now receiving wound care, pain management, and intensive monitoring. While we are hopeful, recovery will certainly be a long and delicate process. This bunny will require multiple follow-up visits, ongoing medication, and specialized care to heal properly and safely.

As a small rescue, cases like this are emotionally and financially overwhelming—but turning them away is never an option. Every life matters, no matter how difficult the road ahead may be.

We are asking for your support to help cover the cost of this rabbit’s medical care. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much to us and helps us reach more people who care.

Thank you for standing with us and giving this little one a fighting chance.

We recently received this wonderful furever home update on two Bunny Lu alums! These two bunnies were adopted from us a little bit over a year ago after they came into the rescue as babies, and it’s so heartwarming to hear how well they’re doing now! Here is what their family had to say about them:

We adopted 2 of the 3 Flemish Giant babies that came to Bunny Lu. They were named Sarah and Buckley; we renamed them Fiona and Finnegan. We’ve had them for a year now. Fiona is more independent than her brother but she loves it when we talk silly to her as she is hopping by. Finnegan is more social, loves to be petted, and is lower keyed. They are usually together but sometimes we find them in different rooms from each other.

Finn weighs 16.8 lb. and Fiona weighs 14.6 lb. Fiona is the bunny with the 1.5 lop ears šŸ™‚. We adore having them and laughing at their shenanigans.
