"Creator/Facilitator(s)" message: As a Survivor, not some stranger with good intentions, I've come to understand that every Woman's story/ journey is similar yet different. I've seen the power of unity and as a group we can learn from one another. We can strengthen each other as some begin their healing journey. We can offer each other support and helpful tools like having a safety plan. We all h
ave the opportunity rather than to let traumas defeat us, to use those situations to learn and grow from them. Together we can help prevent other Women from going though some of the challenges we did. I need each of you to hear me when I tell you that our past will never define who we are now! It DOES NOT matter how old you are, how educated you are, what race you are, or what religion you come from, ABUSE is NEVER ok! ALL WOMEN DESERVE TO FEEL SAFE, TO BE RESPECTED, TO HAVE A CHOICE IN ALL THINGS, TO BE HEARD, SHOWN DIGNITY, LOVE AND COMPASSION! In 2021 and going into 2022 I noted that the NNK had NO current Support Groups available for SV/DV Survivors. After months & MONTHS of research, training, personal experiences, and assisting others who needed Shelter & Advocacy services with my prior Employer, here is what I hope will be an additionally helpful venue for other Women in the area. The "NNK Women's Support Group", established February of 2022. We are seeking Mediators in addition to regular Members to help the Co-Facilitator and I ensure everyone feels safe. That Members feel comfortable in our weekly meetings and that the right to confidentiality and respect are honored. There will be no "higher up" or "Admin" Member in our group although "page roles" are assigned by Facebook. We are ALL in charge of our own lives and no-one is here to judge or Counsel another Member into making any decisions. In fact, I do not encourage any Member to advise another, it is not only unethical as we are not licensed Counselors, but it can also derail a Member off of their own path to healing. Knowing that others listening have empathy, compassion, respect, and honesty towards one another. We have an opportunity to learn things from each other. There is never just one option to what life has in store for us. The goal here is to support each other as equals, to learn, to be heard, and to hopefully gain a higher sense of self by empowering one another.
