Healdsburg Library is hosting an Open Mic poetry night on Tuesday, April 18th, at 6:00 pm. It will have former Healdsburg Literary Laureates, Russ Messing & John Koetzner, presenting from their work, and then Open Mic to follow. Come read a poem for National Poetry Month at Healdsburg Library.

The Healdsburg Literary Guild is unfortunately having to postpone the Third Sunday Salon for March due to the current concern for public health and safety from the coronavirus pandemic. We'll keep you posted about our return in April.

Russ Messing is our featured reader for the Third Sunday Salon on March 15th at the Headslrbug Community Center at 12:30 pm. Open Mic will follow. Join us for an afternoon of literary delights.

Poet Donna Emerson reads at the Third Sunday Salon. She's just retired from teaching at Santa Rosa Jr. College and her clinical social work practice. Her recent publications include Calyx, Sanskrit, the Denver Quarterly, The Paterson Literary Review, Weber: the Contemporary West, and the London Magazine. She has been nominated for two Pushcarts, “Best of the Net” and received two Allen Ginsberg awards (2015, 2017). Her four chapbooks include This Water, 2007, Body Rhymes, 2009, Wild Mercy, 2011, and Following Hay, 2013. Her first full-length poetry collection, The Place of Our Meeting was published in January 2018 and nominated for a California Book Award. Donna’s second, Beside the Well, has just been released by Cherry Grove Collections. Donna will read all new poems from Beside the Well.

This month’s Third Sunday Salon features Richard Perce, a writer whose stories blend James Herriot with Mark Twain. If you haven’t heard him read, he’s delightful.

Our Third Sunday Salon in October will feature R.V. Schmidt, the current Lake County Poet Laureate. Richard is entertaining and a longtime author and reader in the North Bay and beyond. Open Mic will follow.

Hello Literary Friends:

Third Sunday Salon on July 21st will feature the one and only Vilma Ginzberg as she reads from her new work, Octogenarian on Fire. Vilma was a guiding force on the Healdsburg Literary Guild for over a decade and has been a prolific poet in the past couple decades.

Join us for a great afternoon of poetry, Open Mic, and literary discussion.

In observance of Father's Day, the HLG is not holding the Third Sunday Salon in June. We'll resume In July with Vilma Ginzberg and have Arte Whyte in August. Literary Laureate Jennifer Lynn ALvarez will also be featured this fall along with Richard Perce. The Guild is also sponsoring a new publication and has writer's guidelines that are attached here as a jpeg.
