On November 18th, we visited and toured Appellation, Healdsburg’s newest destination, with Hospitality Director, Megan, and the kitchen gardens with Jimmy, the Head Gardener.

We had a great team of weeders from the Healdsburg Garden Club helping to tackle the cleaver (Gallium aparine) aka bedstraw, catchword, sticky w***y, etc. (not to be confused with our native Galium californicum.) Harry and Maggie Wetzel's daughter Katie Murphy and Grandson Matt Murphy were on hand and we filled two loads of Grandson Ross Murphy's pickup.

At March’s Meeting, Birkin Newell, the Restoration and Education Director for the Russian Riverkeeper spoke to us about the current Arundo Donax Eradication Project and the ways that Russian Riverkeeper is protecting the river from invasive plants and harmful herbicides. On April 15th, we are looking forward to welcoming back Master Gardener Karen Guma. She will be speaking to us about soil amendments.

February’s Meeting was high energy. We had a welcome break from the atmospheric rivers and an inspiring speaker, Hadley Dynak, the co-owner of Western Hills Garden. There were many new members and guests in attendance.

Our January meeting was fun as well as educational, as effervescent speaker, Melinda Wolcott, entertained the assemblage, while also showing us how to make interesting and beautiful floral designs for Winter and Valentine’s Day.

Garden Club volunteers,Teri Grill, Jane Kerlinger, and Melinda Wolcott, spread holiday cheer in the Healdsburg Hospital atriums when they brought and decorated three Christmas trees, while also brightening up and pruning the existing plants and trees. Well done, ladies! Happy Holidays to all! 🎄🎄🎄

It was great to see everyone at our Plant Sale last weekend. Come again, this Saturday. We have lots of Thanksgiving centerpieces and flower arrangements for you.

We've looking forward to seeing everyone at our Fall plant sales, between 9am and 12:30pm on November 11th and 18th. Among the items for sale will be these Thanksgiving Centerpieces and Champagne cork Christmas Tree ornaments.

We had a great meeting on October 15th. Ettamarie Peterson taught us all about honeybees.

The Healdsburg Garden Club welcomed their ’23-’24 program year with an educational presentation from club member Brenda Flickner, who is an amateur lepidopterist. Brenda explained the life cycles of butterflies and their host plants. New President, Mary Kelley, and her Committee Chairs, informed the attendees about the status of the various activities that the club will be involved with in the coming months.
