We had a great team of weeders from the Healdsburg Garden Club helping to tackle the cleaver (Gallium aparine) aka bedstraw, catchword, sticky w***y, etc. (not to be confused with our native Galium californicum.) Harry and Maggie Wetzel's daughter Katie Murphy and Grandson Matt Murphy were on hand and we filled two loads of Grandson Ross Murphy's pickup.

At March’s Meeting, Birkin Newell, the Restoration and Education Director for the Russian Riverkeeper spoke to us about the current Arundo Donax Eradication Project and the ways that Russian Riverkeeper is protecting the river from invasive plants and harmful herbicides. On April 15th, we are looking forward to welcoming back Master Gardener Karen Guma. She will be speaking to us about soil amendments.

We've looking forward to seeing everyone at our Fall plant sales, between 9am and 12:30pm on November 11th and 18th. Among the items for sale will be these Thanksgiving Centerpieces and Champagne cork Christmas Tree ornaments.

The Healdsburg Garden Club welcomed their ’23-’24 program year with an educational presentation from club member Brenda Flickner, who is an amateur lepidopterist. Brenda explained the life cycles of butterflies and their host plants. New President, Mary Kelley, and her Committee Chairs, informed the attendees about the status of the various activities that the club will be involved with in the coming months.
