Thanks to John Robert Bendixsen for this bit of Hazlet history.

“Some of our history includes the Vecchi ketchup factory which was located right by the train station. Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vecchi_Ketchup_Factory.

Perhaps this is one reason why the railroad needed a stop at what would become Hazlet.

Some of us old(er) folks might remember the chimney left after the factory was destroyed. It stood in what is now part of the parking lot but was previously in the woods north of the station on Hazlet Avenue.”

The Vecchi Ketchup Factory in Hazlet, New Jersey produced ketchup from the early 20th century until around 1960. The factory operated in the early 20th century.
