If you have ever known someone who has lost a small child, chances are you have asked the same question we all have.
"Why did God put this child on earth only to take them away so soon? How could that possibly translate to love from God?"
I have thought the same question for the entirety of my life. Ever since my family suffered the same type of loss.
That all changed last night in Fargo, ND.
Let me go back a few months to set this all up. A few months ago we were contacted by a group and informed that our organization was selected to be the recipient of a donation relating to a fundraising event. Obviously, we were elated to hear such great news.
Fast forward a few months.. We had not heard anything in quite some time until just recently when I received a text message saying that the fundraiser was a monumental success. The people attending the fundraiser were so moved by our mission that not only did it bring many of them to tears but it led them to donate generously. This small, mostly family run organization raised $8,500 for Wheelchairs & Walleyes. A donation of this magnitude is a staggering amount for someone like us.
After a 4 1/2 hour drive to Fargo last night I was able to meet the founders of this organization and hear their story. Their story is the reason why over 50 years worth of questioning God's reasoning came to an end.
See, they had a young daughter named Avalynn. Avalynn had a very short time on this earth. After going in for what could only be described as a routine surgery to have her adenoids removed due to the constant sniffles, Avalynn passed away on the operating table. There were no warning signs, no underlying conditions, no nothing. One minute she went in for an outpatient surgery, and the next minute she was called home.
As anyone would do, one would question why God? Why put someone on this Earth for a few months only to take them away? What purpose does that serve? What good or positivity could possibly come from such a devastating and unexpected loss?
Well, allow me to explain. After her passing, her parents formed a charitable organization called "Avalynn's Fly High Foundation". Their function as a charitable organization is to find people or causes that are close to their heart and then donate money to that organization in their daughter's memory.
So in essence, even though Avalynn is no longer with us on this earth, she is still changing the lives of people all over the state of North dakota.
I realized last night that God's plan for Avalynn was much more than her presence on this earth. The reason why she was called home was because her passing away was the reason why countless people throughout North Dakota have been brought closer to families and organizations in need.
Avalynn's memory is the driving force behind financial donations to organizations that provide for children with autism, down syndrome, cancer, and the likes. Donations that provide desperately needed funds to allow them to continue to serve.
While Avalynn was just a young child, her impact with our organization has been profound. We are so unbelievably thankful for her gift to our organization, and even more thankful that her legacy will be one of healing, love, and service.
So on behalf of Wheelchairs & Walleyes, I want publicly thank AvaLynn's Fly High Foundation for their donation. I would also encourage all of our followers to look up Avalynn's fly high Foundation and help anywhere you can. This is the type of organization that deserves our unwavering support.
