We have another terrible situation in the county. 15 puppies and dogs that we are helping. Some small, some larger puppies and are in need of Purina Puppy Chow Complete. Sometimes it is hard to find, so we can also use Purina Puppy Chow Tender and Crunchy.

Puppies eat A LOT of food. 🫢

These animals will be on hold until they are healthy and will eventually go to rescue.

If you are able to help, we would appreciate it very much. You can use our Chewy wishlist, Amazon list, or send/bring food directly to the shelter here in Hazel Green. We will list the links below.

Every donation helps us help puppies and dogs in our county. πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎπŸ’™

‼️ PLEASE DO NOT SHOOT YOUR DOGS, CATS OR OTHER ANIMALS‼️

πŸ’” πŸ’™ EDIT: We have added a donation button to our post in case anyone is willing and able to assist with this dogs vet costs. πŸ’™ πŸ’”

Yes, you read that correctly. We are struggling to come up with the right words to kindly remind you that there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to shoot your sweet, friendly, kind and loving dog.

After hours last night we received an anonymous, very horrifying and disturbing tip about a dog that had been allegedly shot by it's owner on purpose, and was bleeding profusely from its neck. It also sustained another injury to one of it's legs.

Our director immediately started investigating, and was able to locate the dog, and it's owners who originally claimed they did not shoot their dog but later admitted to shooting their dog.

The dog was taken to the after hours emergency vet to receive treatment, if at all possible. Once admitted, the vet said the dog was lucky to be alive, and was likely shot by a large caliber bullet.

The dog will undergo surgery to remove the bullet from it's neck.

The entire time the dog was loving, friendly and showed no signs of fear, or aggression whatsoever.

While we understand this is absolutely disgusting, hard to read, and completely unacceptable, we wanted to share this with you to let you know that this happens in our community. AND IT MUST STOP!

We are here to help our community and our county. Please call us to discuss surrendering your dogs/puppies.

No animal deserves to be shot, bleed out, or die.

*this photo was taken after the bleeding had stopped and the dog was able to be cleaned up a little.*

Woohoo. Please share and read in full. What a fantastic opportunity. πŸ’™πŸΎπŸ™πŸ»

A friendly reminder that we have two regular volunteers, and two paid employees, including our director. We do not have an ACO.

With that being said, we try our best to be available Monday to Friday 10-4pm to the public. Please CALL beforehand to ensure someone is available.

We are taking care of a FULL shelter every single day.

We are cleaning kennels, feeding dogs and puppies, ensuring they are all up to date on vaccines and meds, taking them all to the vet, doing hundreds of loads of laundry, arranging transportation to partner rescues, going to residents homes to vaccinate their pets, going out on calls to check on animals, delivering food, picking up supplies in other towns and so much more. This means we are often caring for 30 plus dogs and puppies daily.

We are consistently FULL and have a waitlist. We are here to help, we are doing all we can to assist as many animals as we can.

Please be compassionate, kind and patient.

Please DO NOT simply show up with dogs or puppies. Please DO NOT show up after hours and let dogs or puppies out on our property, or close by. This puts animals at risk here at the shelter, and in the community.

We always need help. Dedicated volunteers that can assist with day to day operations is crucial. We also always need donations.

Please consider helping if you can. πŸ™πŸ»πŸΎπŸ’™

‼️ A very hard post to make, however, this is something we feel we need to share. Please share and help us create awareness. ‼️

Tonight, around 5:30pm our director was driving in the county and saw a plastic bag that appeared to be moving. While it was fairly windy out, it looked off, so she stopped to check.

What she found inside was absolutely HORRIFIC. 9 small, helpless puppies, 2-3lbs each inside of a bag, tossed on the side of the road like garbage.

Unfortunately, 4 of them were already deceased.πŸ’” She was able to save 5 beautiful puppies that wouldn't have made it much longer.

Someone tossed these babies out and assumed nobody would ever find them. There's a special place for whomever committed this crime.

Why are we sharing this? Because we want our community to know that while we share a lot of "good news" stories, there are many more we don't share. Stories of helpless animals in the county that are starving, dying, abused, neglected, tossed away like trash, left alone to die, frightened and afraid, and more.

If you are in need of help or assistance with your dog or puppies, please reach out to us. We want to help as many pets as we possibly can. There is always better way than this.

Please spay and neuter your pets.

If you know anyone who's dog recently had puppies and now they are simply "gone". Please send us a private message. Your information will remain anonymous.

*This is not an actual photo of the puppies found, simply a picture for reference. *

Please help support our shelter. Donations of laundry detergent, bleach, dog food and Purina puppy chow are always needed. PayPal [email protected]

We are looking for volunteers with grant writing experience!

Our team is extremely small, consisting mainly of volunteers, and we are hoping to find someone, near or far, who may be willing to assist our small, nonprofit shelter.

This would be a great opportunity for someone that wants to volunteer but may not have time to come into the shelter and help.

Some experience with writing grants would ideal, however, we understand that we are searching for volunteers. Experience in research, writing, editing, project management and reporting would be amazing!

Share and tag your friends near and far that may be able to help! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ’™πŸΎ
