IT’S TIME….🏀 Basketball registration is now open!!! 🐾🎉

🏀We are getting ready to start the Wildcat Youth Basketball season, and we're excited for another great year!🏀

In the past, our 3rd and 4th grade girls teams have participated in the Galena ARC League. This is a four-week league with games on September 12, 19, 26, and October 3. Each team plays two games every Saturday, and all games are held at the Galena ARC, making it a convenient option with minimal travel.

To prepare for the season, we would need to begin practices within the next few weeks.

We also have other league options available, including the Dairyland League and the Prairie du Chien Fast-Break League. While these are great opportunities, they do involve significantly more travel.

If your daughter is interested in participating in Wildcat Youth Basketball, please let us know as soon as possible so we can begin planning practices.

Southwestern Middle School Basketball League wrapped up with an exciting playoff on Monday!

The regular season lasted four weeks with each team playing two games a night. It culminated with an end of year playoff. Fennimore 8th Grade the regular season champion earned the 1 seed by going undefeated in league play. The post season tournament was won by the hometown 4th seed Southwestern Wildcats, who were able to outlast Cuba City Black and Fennimore 7th on their way to the championship game against Mineral Point who they bested by two points. On the consolation side of the bracket, Platteville beat Cuba City Black. The league had some outstanding performances throughout. The leading scorer for the league was Owen Hartwig who averaged 18 points per game for Cuba City Gold. Other notable performances, Fin Wood with 8 three pointers for Fennimore 8th in a single contest.

Thank you to all the area teams who participated in the league, we hope you come back next year. We would also like to thank the officials that worked the league, Jeff Hartl, Kenny Welter, Bill Ingram, Jim Blaine, Brandon Temperly, Jeff Roen, Jason Schulting and Mark Schlueter.

The Southwestern Basketball Camp wrapped up another outstanding week of skill development, competition, and fun as young athletes from 2nd through 8th grade worked hard to improve their basketball fundamentals. Campers from all over the area focused on shooting, ball handling, finishing at the rim, footwork, and overall basketball IQ while also competing in a variety of skill challenges throughout the week.

The energy and enthusiasm displayed by all participants was tremendous. Campers competed in free throw shooting, power-up finishing drills, speed layups, and three-point shooting contests. These competitions allowed players to showcase the skills they have been developing while challenging themselves against their peers.

The coaching staff was extremely impressed by the effort, attitude, and sportsmanship displayed throughout camp. More importantly than the contest results, campers showed tremendous growth in their basketball skills and confidence over the course of the week.

A special thank you goes out to the boys and girls basketball players for making this year's Southwestern Basketball Camp such a success. We look forward to watching these young athletes continue to develop their skills throughout the summer and during the upcoming basketball season.
