Kentucky River Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth

Kentucky River Chapter of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth The Kentucky River Chapter of KFTC is a group of like minded and diverse citizens of Perry, Knott, Letcher, & Harlan

We believe in the power of community organizing – people working together to achieve common goals. Organizing empowers us to help shape decisions affecting our lives and the larger community. It's a long-term approach that focuses on building and exercising power, especially among people affected by injustice, to improve the quality of life for all.

A new Appalshop film is coming this month! 🌟

In a landscape where blue collar jobs are the norm, odd jobs are becoming a life raft to LGBTQ+ Appalachians who want to survive the region's economy. The film "Q***r Jobs" by Nik Lee centers on two young women—one a transgender woman and one who identifies as nonbinary—working customer service and hospitality jobs to afford basic necessities, like housing and education. Both women detail the benefits and challenges of working odd jobs in the region and what their dreams for the future look like.

Please join us on June 26th @ 8:30 PM at the Appalshop Solar Pavilion for the premiere screening of Q***r Jobs! All are welcome!
