Hayward Promise Neighborhoods is a partnership of local schools, businesses, organizations, and community members helping children and families in the Jackson Triangle and in South Hayward to thrive. In 2012, Hayward received a five-year $25 million grant to support the Hayward Promise Neighborhood (HPN) Initiative in the Jackson Triangle neighborhood of Hayward; this is the neighborhood bounded b
y Jackson Street, Harder Road, and Whitman Street. The focus of HPN is to ensure all children growing up in the Hayward Promise Neighborhood will have access to effective schools and strong systems of family and community support. HPN is formed as a joint partnership working together with a wide range of local educators, government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations to fully support the children and residents of the Hayward Promise Neighborhood. California State University East Bay (CSUEB), Hayward Unified School District, City of Hayward, Chabot College, Community Child Care Council (4C’s) of Alameda County, Eden Area Regional Occupational Program, First 5 Alameda County, and Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center are among the many organizations leading the Hayward Promise Neighborhood effort. This network of support will help to prepare Hayward Promise Neighborhood students to attain an excellent education; enabling them to transition to college or post-secondary training, and enter into successful and rewarding careers. Hayward Promise Neighborhood is focused on students that attend six target schools: Harder Elementary, Park Elementary, Winton Middle School, Cesar Chavez Middle School, Hayward High School and Tennyson High School in addition to residents that in live in the Jackson Triangle neighborhood.
