The video you have all been waiting for is here! The recap of our 10th Girls+ Camp can be found in our Instagram story as well as in our bio. This year, 64 women and non-binary fire service professionals and volunteers from more than 15 different public safety organizations came and provided a unique opportunity for 44 campers ranging from 9th-12th grade. The goal of camp wasnโ€™t to make every camper a firefighter, but rather to give them hands-on experience into the career path. The mission of camp is to โ€œreach young people who may not have seen someone who looks like themโ€ on a fire engine. Believe it or not, less than 5% of paid professional firefighters are women and non-binary individuals nationwide. This camp was about empowerment, mentorship and just having fun. Missed out on this camp? Donโ€™t worry, more camps will come.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Weekend Wrap-Up: 2025 First Alarm Girls+ Fire Camp ๐Ÿ”ฅ
Hosted by and Las Positas College ยท Sept 20-21, Livermore

What an incredible two days! We welcomed 44 girls and non-binary students (grades 9-12) for hands-on training in the fire service. From hose handling, chainsaw work, auto extrication, forcible entry, wildland firefighting, CPR, confidence courses, physical fitness, and even building their own toolbox โ€” to climbing the aerial ladder โ€” campers got a full taste of what it takes.๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

Huge thanks to the 64 women and non-binary professionals from over 15 public safety organizations who volunteered their time and expertise. Also massive gratitude to ALL our partner programs who helped show the pathways forward to careers in ems, firefighting, and public service.

Special shout-out to local leaders who showed up in support: mayors, councilmembers, and fire chiefs from across the Bay Area. Your presence helped underscore how vital these youth-to-career pathways really are.

Thanks to everyone who made this camp possible! To learn more or get involved in future Girls+ Fire Camps, visit norcalwfs.org.
