Our development works target low land areas of central Vietnam where flooding has been an annual event even with heavy rain.

Our staff meeting was remote yesterday and we are worried for our staff and families leaving in these same areas that were flooded in 2020 when we visited and provided assistance.

We enter the monsoon stormy weather so flooding will surely happen.

DVAN invites you to register for our new collaboration with The Progressive Vietnamese American Organization (PIVOT)! The Vietnamese American Stories Project is a 4-part online workshop series where we will learn storytelling techniques to explore the narratives in our families, communities, and selves. We’ve created this new collaboration because, in addition to the urgent issues of the immediate election, we are also building the long term power that comes from cultivating our cultural narratives. Our hope is: 1) To gather Vietnamese American stories and create narrative plentitude and 2) To explore the ways that doing so can be healing for our communities and families. Participants who attend all 4 sessions will be given a free copy of Thi Bui’s illustrated memoir, The Best We Could Do, and Vietnamese Boat People’s Conversation Cards.

● Cost: Free
● Who this is for: Vietnamese Americans curious about their cultural and/or family history. No experience in storytelling required. All levels of experience welcome!
● When: Saturdays, May 4, 11, 18 and June 1 | 3 - 4:30 pm ET/12 - 1:30 pm PT.
● Where: Zoom
● Requirements: reliable internet connection, proficiency in English
