Today is Native Non-Profit Giving Day — a powerful opportunity to invest in the future of Indigenous language, culture, and community. Every contribution helps strengthen language restoration, support learners and teachers, create immersive educational spaces, and carry forward the knowledge of our ancestors for future generations. When we support Indigenous-led education and language revitalization, we help ensure our languages live, grow, and are heard by the next generations.
Join us in making a difference today. Every gift matters. Every voice matters. Every word carries life.

Wawiingezi a’aw Niigaanibinesiikwe!

Meet Niigaanibinesiikwe Hannah Orie, one of the inaugural fellows of NIEA’s Emerging Native Language Leaders Fellowship.

Hannah is an Ojibwemowin second-language learner from the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe whose work is rooted in language immersion education, storytelling, and cultural preservation. Through teaching and community programming, she continues to help strengthen and carry forward Ojibwe language and lifeways for future generations.

“Language is deeply connected to our way of life, and being able to learn alongside others doing this work has been incredibly meaningful.”

From immersion classrooms to community-led language initiatives, Hannah’s work reflects the power of language revitalization grounded in community and culture.

Applications for the second fellowship cohort are now open through May 29.
