What an honor it is for APICI and HUSD to be recognized as two of the community organizations that are leading the charge in advancing AANHPI communities and students in Hayward, as acknowledged in the AANHPI Heritage Month Proclamation by Mayor Mark Salinas and the City Council on May 19th, in celebration of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!
We are proud to be in the company of other exemplary organizations and institutions who were recognized, including Winton Middle School, Winton Middle School Asian Pacific Islander Club (APIC), and the Hayward Public Library.
APICI's Lead Coordinator, Lani Llamido, and HUSD's School Board President, Peter Bufete, represented the respective organizations with pride. Meanwhile, Winton Middle School's Principal, Lisa Tess, and the APIC's club supervisor, Nieleen Tamondong, represented their school and club. Also present were Hayward Public Library Executive Director Jayanti Addleman, APICI member Solomon Llamido of UC Berkeley and Miss Wok, Music Director of Winton Middle School.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City of Hayward for celebrating the profound impact of AANHPI communities in the city. APICI will continue to provide a platform for our AANHPI students and families.
