The Summer Artist Showcase returned to The Park Center Saturday with unique new acts, backed by our fantastic house band A WALK IN THE PARK, led by the evening’s emcee, local troubadour John Sonofmel (John Adler). Drummer Michael Pilhofer and guitarist Randy Wydra round out the trio.

Char Duffy, a member of the Hayward Storytellers, drew rapt attention with two short stories about castration, drawn from her 93 years of memories.

A rocking oboe was a surprisingly effective instrument for The Home Again Band — an energetic, quintet that played music of the ’60s, ’70s, & ’80s.

This free community event was sponsored by CHARAC, the Cable Hayward Area Arts Council (https://www.cablehaywardarts.org). The Summer Artist Showcase returns to The Park Center this Saturday at 7:30 PM — and this one is going to be something special!

Three unique new acts will take the stage, backed by our fantastic house band A WALK IN THE PARK, led by your MC for the evening and local troubadour Sonofmel (John Adler).

✨ Hayward Storytellers — heartfelt stories from a local memoir and family-history writing group.�
🎸 Isaac Pierce — Hayward native now based in Portland, bringing his distinctive spectral folk-rock sound home.�
🎷 Home Again Band — an energetic, bassoon-driven trip through the best music of the ’60s, ’70s & ’80s!

And the best part? IT’S FREE! 🙌

We had some fun Saturday night at The Park Center, am I right? Comedians Andy Beningo and Des Mulrooney made us laugh for a couple of hours because, after all, laughter IS the best medicine. They also helped us send off volunteer numero uno, Egan Young. Egan will no longer be the first person you meet at The Park as he heads off to college. Good luck Egan!

Next up is our free admission Artist Showcase this Saturday the 22nd at 7:30 pm. This will feature our house band, host Sonofmel with the Hayward Storytellers, band Home Again, and singer-songwriter Isaac Pierce. Come on by and support these fine entertainers. Plus, did we mention it is a free show?

This Saturday's show will be our last performance at 7:30pm. We hit the ground running in September on the Friday the 11th with Maygen & the Birdwatcher, sponsored by Nelson Lumber and Home Inc, with our start at 7pm to mark your calendars.

Wayne Anthony is the ultimate entertainer, delivering Frank Sinatra’s most iconic hits in flawless style, interspersed with endearing personal stories. Talent runs in the family, he said: his cufflinks and vintage microphone were inherited from his crooner father.
His 2+ hour-long Ultimate Sinatra show at The Park Saturday night featured an all-star 8-piece ensemble under the musical direction of composer and arranger, Adi Yeshaya.

The Northwoods String Quartet enchanted the audience Friday night with their masterful performance of music from Jessie Montgomery, Johannes Brahms, William Bolcom, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Maurice Ravel.
In this third of four Park Center Chamber Series Concerts, violinists Matt Lammers and Hannah Kennedy, violist Alexandra Sophocleus, and cellist Daniel Kopp performed flawlessly in a varied program sponsored by Trillium: A collaboration of The Red Cedar Symphony, The Shell Lake Arts Center, and NorthWoods Strings.

The weather may be nice but The Park Center has something even nicer in store -- the Northwoods String Quartet, Friday Aug 7 and then a tremendous Sinatra tribute featuring Wayne Anthony, Saturday Aug 8. Both shows are at 7:30 with doors open about 6:45. We do expect that there will be tickets available at the door but we advise folks to get their tickets early to ensure you have a seat! Shows can sell out quickly.
