We’re honored to be recognized among the 2026 Impact Maker Award finalists! 💚

A big thank you to Tri-Valley NonProfit Alliance for shining a light on the individuals and organizations making a difference across our community. We’re especially proud to see our Executive Director, Lara Calvert, named a finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Spectrum Community Services recognized as a finalist for Excellence in Impact – Budget Over $1M.

Congratulations to all of this year’s finalists. We’re grateful to be in such incredible company and look forward to celebrating everyone at the Power of Giving Celebration in November!

This past Sunday, the Meals on Wheels team from Spectrum Community Services had a wonderful time connecting with our community at Service Sunday at St. Augustine Parish Catholic Community of Pleasanton . Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about our mission and the many ways to get involved!

Every day, Meals on Wheels volunteers do more than deliver nutritious meals—they provide friendly visits, wellness checks, and meaningful connections that help older adults remain independent and thrive.

We're always looking for compassionate volunteers to join our team. Whether you have a few hours each week or just a few times each month, you can make a real difference in the life of a local senior.

Yesterday, we celebrated our annual Fall Prevention Awareness Walk at San Leandro Marina Park! 💜

Our Fall Prevention participants came together for a morning of movement, music, community, and delicious food. A huge thank you to Permanente for sponsoring this year’s walk and supporting Spectrum’s Fall Prevention program.

And thank you to for the delicious morning bites (Dawn, those stuffed dates were a hit!), the team for volunteering, The 64s for keeping us moving with fabulous live music 🎶, Cherie with Pop of Sunshine for making the day extra beautiful 🎈 (we love a 15-foot balloon arch!), and Falck for helping keep everyone safe.🚑

Most of all, thank you to our amazing seniors, volunteers, staff, VIPs, and community partners for making the day so special. 💜

📣 Help Shape the Future for Older Adults in Alameda County!

Spectrum Community Services is proud to support the Alameda County Area Agency on Aging's call for community members to join the 2028–2032 Countywide Area Plan (CWAP) Steering Committee. This is an opportunity for older adults, caregivers, service providers, and community stakeholders to help identify priorities, set goals, and strengthen services that support aging well across Alameda County.

September is Fall Prevention Awareness Month, and on Tuesday, September 29, Spectrum will celebrate with our annual Fall Prevention Awareness Walk. Bringing our community together to raise awareness about the importance of staying active, building strength and balance, and supporting independence as we age.

Kaiser Permanente’s support helps Spectrum bring fall prevention education, classes, and opportunities for connection to more older adults in our community.

Together, we’re working to help older adults stay active, healthy, confident, and independent.

🦁 The Spectrum Outreach Team had an amazing time last Thursday at the Oakland Zoo for the !

They spent the day sharing how Spectrum supports our Alameda County neighbors. From healthy meals and energy assistance to more energy-efficient homes and fall prevention.

🍽️ Our Senior Congregate Meals team shared our menus filled with healthy, delicious meals and talked with attendees about signing up for our lunch service.

💡 LIHEAP helped spread the word that assistance with energy bills may be available to eligible Alameda County residents, while Weatherization shared how we can help make homes more energy-efficient and comfortable.

🚶 And our Fall Prevention instructors got everyone moving with a mini class. Showing that staying active can be fun while helping build strength and balance to prevent falls!

We love getting out into the community, meeting our neighbors, and sharing resources that can make a difference. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! 💙
