The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that LGBTQ+ people are protected against discrimination in the workplace, marking a landmark victory for the q***r community this Pride Month. In a 6-3 vote, the conservative-leaning court decided that protections against job discrimination because of s*x, as part of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, include the q***r community. “An employer who fires an individual for being homos*xual or transgender fires that person for traits or actions it would not have questioned in members of a different s*x,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote in the court’s opinion. “Sex plays a necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII forbids.”
