"As a first-generation student, I had no idea how I would pay for college. I knew I was coming because of the value and importance of education. Thankfully I received several scholarships that took the financial stress out of my mind, and I could focus 100% on school. As I approach graduation (May 2023), I must say that this achievement wouldn't have been possible without scholarships. Scholarships do make a difference!"

"Scholarships are one of the reasons I chose to come to FHSU. I was awarded a full-ride scholarship from the Rudd Foundation to attend college. Without this scholarship, I would have most likely attended a JUCO. I also wouldn't have had the support of the program itself, which has pushed me to get involved on campus and has helped me in finding what I am passionate about. FHSU has become my home, and I am so thankful for the opportunities and experiences I have had over the last four years. I will now graduate college debt free because of scholarships. I am so grateful to the Rudd Foundation and to FHSU."

Meet your member post!!

Makenna Bartholomew is a nursing student here at Fort Hays State University. Makenna has been part of Tigers Forever for two years. When asked What do you enjoy most about Tigers Forever? She said, “All of the networking opportunities and events we get to be a part of” Makenna also noted that how to build a maintain meaningful relationships with peers is something she has learned while at FHSU, and this is something that will help her in her career.

Meet your Member Monday

Slater Heglin is a Senior at Fort Hays State University. Slater is majoring in Business Education, Concentration in Talent Development who has been in Tigers Forever since his freshman year.

- Why did you come to FHSU?
I came to FHSU because of the affordability, the amazing people, and the opportunity to get involved on campus!

- What do you enjoy most about Tigers Forever?
I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet the people that have made FHSU what it is today. Whether it is FHSU alumni, faculty and staff, or Foundation staff. Each of them have had an influential role in making FHSU the great University that it is. Through my experience in Tigers Forever, I have found the drive to give back to FHSU after I graduate.

- What is your favorite place on the FHSU campus?
The skybridge/breezeway! I love doing homework up there - it provides a nice quiet atmosphere with the perfect view.

Kenadee O'Brien is a Senior at Fort Hays State University major in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources. Kenadee has been in Tigers Forever for one year.

What is one thing you have learned while at FHSU that will help you in your career?

I’ve learned the importance of connections through the clubs I’ve been in and I look forward to making more professional connections through Tigers Forever!

What is your favorite place on the FHSU campus?

My favorite place is the Fischli-Wills Center for Student Success. It is a great addition to help students succeed at college!
