Giving Day was another massive success!

Gifts are still arriving in the mail, but we currently have around 900 gifts totaling $180,000!

We saw an outpouring of support for student scholarships again this year, so the outcome of our 6th annual Giving Day will be felt for years to come.

Each year, we’ve had businesses and organizations come forward wanting to help, and this year was no exception. To assist in the promotion of Giving Day, Adams Brown, a local CPA firm, offered their employees a match. The incentive was initiated and made possible by FHSU alumni within Adams Brown leadership, and the match led to a $10,000 gift to Fort Hays State!

Thank you to each and every one of our Fort Hays State University alumni and Tiger fans who made a gift and a difference this Giving Day.

Did you miss your chance to support FHSU this Giving Day? No problem! Make your gift today by visiting foundation.fhsu.edu/giving-day-gift. Exclusive FHSU merchandise is still being offered for donations, while supplies last.

Harper Lubbers has been making a difference at Fort Hays State since she arrived on campus.

Scholarships have played a big part in making that possible.

Working in a residential hall helps offset some of her expenses of attending FHSU, but the scholarships have allowed her to focus on classes and participate in campus organizations in her free time.

You can help students make the most of their time at Fort Hays State by supporting scholarships this Giving Day.

We’re pleased to announce that Alex Johnson has joined our team as a Director of Development!

Alex will be responsible for raising private support to FHSU, specifically for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.

When asked about the new role, Alex said, “What a privilege it is to return home to help shape the future of Fort Hays State University.”

Alex is a third-generation Hays native and graduate of Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and will earn a certificate in Business Law this May. While attending FHSU, he was involved in many campus organizations, and he interned for the Foundation and Alumni Office during the 2024-2025 academic year.

During his final year at FHSU, Alex’s interest in politics led him to serve as Press Secretary to Representative Derek Schmidt in Washington, D.C. Although grateful for the learning opportunity at the nation’s capital, he is ready to be back on campus and help further our mission of supporting Fort Hays State.

Join us in congratulating Alex!

Cole Krug didn’t just find a university at Fort Hays State. He found a home.

“After visiting campus, meeting with athletics, and learning more about the academics offered, it felt like the perfect match. That’s why I chose FHSU.”

As a construction management major, Cole balances life as a student-athlete on both the
cross country and track teams. With two years of college credit already under his belt from
high school, he’s making every moment count. Just 2.5 years after arriving on campus, Cole
will walk across the stage at commencement to receive his degree.

Scholarships have made all the difference.

“They allow me to fully focus on why I’m here. Because of that support, I’ve been able to maintain a strong GPA and compete at a high level.”

Thanks to the generosity of donors, students like Cole can stay focused, engaged, and
confident about their future.

“It takes the worry out of paying for school and allows me to get the most out of my time at
Fort Hays State.”

This Giving Day, you can help more students like Cole chase their dreams.

Time is running out to ensure your year-end gift to Fort Hays State University is counted for the 2025 calendar year!

Due to new USPS postmarking rules, postmark dates for mailed charitable gifts may be affected. Checks placed in mailboxes on December 31 may not be postmarked until January, as postmarks are now being placed at regional facilities.

To ensure your gift is credited for the 2025 calendar year and is eligible for this year’s tax deduction, we recommend one of the following:
- Mail your gift early
- Purchase postage directly at a USPS counter
- Send your gift via registered or certified mail

Thank you for your generosity to Fort Hays State University. Your support plays a vital role in the success of our students, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment.
