Today, on National Nonprofit Day, we celebrate the power of community, purpose, and service.

At Montana Native Growth Fund, our mission is rooted in Indigenous economic empowerment, financial education, and the creation of pathways to opportunity for Native entrepreneurs and families across Montana. As a Native-led organization representing multiple Tribal Nations, we are proud to serve our communities both on and off reservation boundaries through lending, technical assistance, partnerships, and community engagement.

During next week's session, “Growing the Pathway: Inside the Yellowbird Fellowship Program,” panelists will highlight the impact of a transformative initiative led by NACDC Financial Services in partnership with the Mountain | Plains Regional Native CDFI Coalition.
The Yellowbird Fellowship is a one-year program designed to build a pipeline of Native professionals in community finance—offering training in accounting, lending, and financial services while strengthening leadership and community development skills. Through coaching, training, and relationship-based mentorship, the program supports Native individuals in advancing their careers and contributing to the growth of Native CDFIs.
In this session, speakers share how the fellowship has shaped their professional journeys and is helping develop the next generation of leaders in Native finance.

It is with heavy hearts that the Montana Native Growth Fund Board of Directors and staff extend our deepest condolences to the family of Michelle Fox, as well as to her community members, friends, and constituents throughout Indian Country.

Michelle’s visionary leadership and the creation of Island Mountain Development Group laid the foundation and guiding philosophy behind the Montana Native Growth Fund, an emerging Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Today, this CDFI serves all Federally Enrolled Tribal members residing in the State of Montana, expanding access to capital and financial opportunity across our communities.

Through CDFIs, Indigenous visionaries are able to pursue financially empowered futures and build positive, lasting relationships with financial health. Michelle’s tenacity, foresight, and unwavering dedication to the betterment of Indian Country created pathways that will benefit generations to come.

MNGF remains committed to carrying forward her vision by continuing to expand our services and strengthen access to capital for our people. Her legacy lives on not only through the subsidiaries she created, but through the profound and powerful impact she made throughout Indian Country.

She will be deeply missed and forever honored.
