Andrews NC Cyclist Killed After Struck by Vehicle

It is with great sadness that we share the news that long time SABA member and friend of the cycling community, Frank Mason, was struck by a vehicle on Airport Rd between Murphy and Andrews NC last week. Frank succumbed to his injuries last night, 8/18/2025.

In addition to frequently riding, Frank was active in the construction of the Jackrabbit and Piney K**b Trail Systems having given many hours building trails.

We ask that all keep Frank, his wife Edith and their family in your thoughts and prayers.

Any future information regarding how we can provide support to Frank’s family or plans for services will be posted as it becomes available.

Please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Rod Fortney,
President, SABA
