Red Flag Warnings remain in effect across western Nebraska through 10 PM CDT / 9 PM MDT today. Very low humidity, strong shifting winds, and dry conditions will create critical fire weather across much of the region.

Any fire start could spread rapidly and become difficult to control. Avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could spark a fire.

Dannebrog Fire put in the time to quantify the impact of fire fighters going on deployments with Strike Teams, which Hayes County Fire routinely does. Worth spending a couple minutes to think about how much of an impact it is to the members of our department who do give so much to serve our community and the state.

In addition our EMTs spend a significant amount of their personal time attending training to continue to improve their skills and maintain their certification.

Hayes County Fire and Rescue is very thankful for all of our members and their families who consistently give of their time and talents to our community!!

Hayes County Fire had crews spent time on the Arthur McPherson Fire (a complex of 6 individual fires) this past week working on primarily the Vasa Fire and then the Daly Fire. We are always grateful to work with so many dedicated volunteer firefighters throughout Nebraska and enjoy continuing to grow our relationships with firefighters from other departments. The brotherhood that exists among the Wildland Firefighters in Nebraska is a unique and wonderful thing and we are glad to get the opportunity to be a part of it!

We continue to be very thankful for all those from other departments that have invested in us over the years from their knowledge and experience and we take seriously our responsibility to invest in other firefighters from what we have learned. These opportunities to work these fires outside our district significantly improves the capabilities that we can utilize within our district when events occur locally.

We are extremely thankful for the family and community support we receive as a department!! The recent donation of two Starlink units to our department has allowed us to maintain communication capabilities regardless of our location, this technology was very beneficial this past week.

The investment in our equipment and gear over the past several years has been very valuable to our district and those that we can assist on statewide fires when we are asked for assistance. Again, we say thank you to our Rural Fire Board and community for investing in us!

All Hayes County firefighters and equipment are back home.

Thankful for safety on the line and safety to and from these fires.

Many firefighters are still on the line in Nebraska, pray for their safety. And for statewide moisture.

Hayes County Fire has traded out crews in Arthur County. 2 firefighters are headed home and 2 are working day shift with our type 6.

Today is another Red Flag Day, please be careful with all outdoor activities.

Immediately get help coming for any fire starts.

Hayes County Fire is sending a type 6 and 2 fire fighters to Arthur County.

04/22/2026

Fires are popping off all over Nebraska, Northern Kansas, and Eastern Colorado. The State will get really short on available resources. Would be a good time to stop outdoor activities. If you have a disc and/or spray tender have it ready. Next 48 hours look to be very active.

Pray for those who are responding and those being evacuated right now. And pray for statewide moisture.
