Our kinders enjoyed a game of soccer with Mr. Lippy during recess today.

⚽☀️ What’s better than playing soccer in the October sunshine?
Playing soccer in the October sunshine with your Charter Administrator! 🙌

HCC students had a blast taking on Mr. Lippy in an exciting game of soccer today! There was plenty of running, laughter, and maybe a little friendly competition along the way. 😄

We love seeing our students and staff getting out, having fun, and building community together! 💙⚽

🪙⚔️ LET THE PENNY WARS BEGIN! ⚔️🪙
It’s time to dig through those couch cushions, check the car, and raid the change jar because our Annual Penny Wars are back at HCC! 🎉

Our students will be competing to see which class can collect the most points while helping raise money for our school. And here’s where the strategy comes in… 👀
🪙 PENNIES & DOLLAR BILLS = POSITIVE POINTS
💣 SILVER COINS & ALL OTHER BILLS = NEGATIVE POINTS

That means students can fill their own class jar with pennies and dollar bills… while sneaking silver coins and other bills into the jars of other classes to bring their scores down!
It’s a little bit of fundraising and A LOT of friendly competition!

🏆 Which class will come out on top?
🪙 Which class will be sabotaged by the most silver?
🔥 And which class will have the ultimate Penny War strategy?

Our Penny Wars begin Monday, September 28th and go through October 15th. Winning classrooms will receive a party on Thursday, October 22nd.
1st Place: Pizza Party
2nd Place: Ice Cream Party
3rd Place: Popcorn

Special note: This is a great year to send in those pennies that you may have been holding onto. With pennies no longer being minted, we anticipate this will be the last year we can give positive points for pennies, but we look forward to bringing this favorite back next year with an exciting new twist.

🏀 Our students are having a great time working through their basketball unit in PE! They’re learning the fundamentals that set the foundation for success: proper stance, arm positioning, hand placement, and shooting posture.

One of the ways Mr. Reid is helping our younger students focus on form before force is by having them shoot into buckets placed on the floor. This allows students to concentrate on their body position and shooting technique without worrying about generating enough power to reach a regulation hoop.

It’s all about building strong habits, developing confidence, and learning the skills step by step. We love seeing our students practice, learn, and grow! ❤️🏀

Our staff had an incredible week of Professional Development! We spent the week building a strong foundation for this year’s Expeditionary Learning adventures, learning together, sharing ideas, and strengthening the relationships that make our HCC community so special. Of course, there was also great conversation, fun initiatives, and a few hikes along the way! 🥾🌲

Now we’re ready to welcome our students and families back! ❤️

We are SO excited to see all of our HCC students and families tomorrow. We can’t wait to kick off another year of learning, growing, exploring, and making memories together.
