Sometimes It Just Can't Wait
Sometimes, a story unfolds on the water that deserves to be shared in the moment. Sometimes, our fellow lake enthusiasts are inspired by the breathtaking beauty of our lake and watershed — an enchanting sunset, a heron in a quiet cove, the peaceful glow of morning fog in the watershed. Every day, beauty happens all around Hayden Lake. Sometimes it's nice to be reminded of what we all work to protect.

Follow us on Facebook for timely updates, watershed news, and beautiful snapshots of life around Hayden Lake.

Light moves differently here, sneaking through branches, settling on understory ferns, casting shadows that reshape what we thought we recognized.

The forest speaks to us in quieter ways, with mountain breezes making the leaves rustle and treetops sway.

When we pause for a moment, birdsong becomes more distinct, and the chorus of frogs and insects start to fill in the symphony. It’s what we call the rhythm of life in the watershed.

Our neighbors on Hayden Lake, you’re invited to participate in the 2026 Lake Debris Removal Program. This annual effort helps remove large floating debris and shoreline junk that can clutter the lake, create navigation hazards, and impact water quality.

June 15 is the deadline for delivering debris to the
Mokins Bay collection site.

Avista is taking action to respond to the hot, windy, dry weather conditions to decrease the potential for wildfires in the North Idaho regions, and across our Washington and Idaho service areas.

Avista will be implementing, if warranted, a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), which is when we could preemptively turn off power for the safety of your community. A PSPS event is used only in extreme weather conditions. Avista will use this method to reduce the threat of wildfires.

Join us for a Live Conversation about Wildfire, PSPS and everything else Avista is doing to help mitigate these risks on Tuesday May 12th at 6:00 p.m.

You’ll hear from Avista personnel about the changes we’re making to reduce wildfire risk in your community. We will also be joined by our partnering experts within the wildfire space on ways to help you become resilient around your homes.

You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and provide valuable feedback throughout the event.

Three ways to participate

1. Register in advance using the button link below. Then, wait by your phone and receive a call on May 12th at 6:00 p.m.

2. Call in at 6:00 p.m. on May 12th to join the toll-free call:

English (888) 400-1932 | Spanish (888) 400-9342

3. Answer our call on your phone. If we have your correct phone number on file, you’ll automatically receive a call at 6:00 p.m. on May 12th, and you can decide to join (or not) at that time.
