Hawthorne Caballeros The Hawthorne Caballeros are a Championship-winning all-age drum corps located in Hawthorne, NJ.

The Hawthorne Caballeros, sponsored by American Legion Post #199 in Hawthorne, have been competing since 1946 and have amassed a remarkable number of records. They have won the DCA World Championship 10 times, the American Legion National Title 16 times, the National Dream Contest 17 times, and the New Jersey State American Legion Title 43 times. They have completed 5 undefeated seasons, consecuti

vely in 1984 and 1985. They have placed in the top 3 placements at the DCA World Championship 31 times in 44 appearances, a clear indicator of the Caballeros consistency for excellence on the drum corps field. In 1989, during DCA's 25th Anniversary season, fans voted the Caballeros their favorite Senior Drum and Bugle Corps of all time.

The Hawthorne Caballeros are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Michael J Del Vecchio. Michael was a longtime member of the Caballeros, oldest active member of the Caballero family, and a fixture in our organization for as long as anyone can remember. He was a founding member of the Caballeros chorus and seen by many as the unofficial historian of the corps. He was a member of the alumni corps for many years and the post commander of Post 199.

Michael was recently inducted into the Hawthorne Caballeros Hall of Fame as an inaugural member. He was also a member of multiple drum corps hall of fame organizations, including the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame.

We send our well wishes and condolences to his family during this difficult time. Michael was a true legend in the drum corps activity and will be missed by all who knew him.
