Hawthorne Caballeros The Hawthorne Caballeros are a Championship-winning all-age drum corps located in Hawthorne, NJ.

The Hawthorne Caballeros, sponsored by American Legion Post #199 in Hawthorne, have been competing since 1946 and have amassed a remarkable number of records. They have won the DCA World Championship 10 times, the American Legion National Title 16 times, the National Dream Contest 17 times, and the New Jersey State American Legion Title 43 times. They have completed 5 undefeated seasons, consecutively in 1984 and 1985. They have placed in the top 3 placements at the DCA World Championship 31 times in 44 appearances, a clear indicator of the Caballeros consistency for excellence on the drum corps field. In 1989, during DCA's 25th Anniversary season, fans voted the Caballeros their favorite Senior Drum and Bugle Corps of all time.

The Hawthorne Caballeros are excited to welcome back Cliff Bialkin as Program Coordinator for the 2027 season!

Mr. Bialkin retired in 2020 after serving as the Director of Bands at Ramsey High School in NJ for 32 years. During his tenure, he led numerous award-winning ensembles, including the jazz band, marching band, wind ensemble, and pit orchestra. His groups had the opportunity to travel extensively, performing in parades and concerts across Europe, including in London, France, and Italy.

After retiring, he founded Clifford Bialkin Designs LLC, a company specializing in custom music arrangements, drill design, and performance coaching for marching arts ensembles across the United States. The company also offers soundtrack creation, live audio production, custom mixing, and audio engineering for musical theatre. Mr. Bialkin is a respected music arranger for both band and drum corps, including the world-famous Hawthorne Caballeros.

Mr. Bialkin is a freelance trombonist in the New York metro area and has a studio of students, where he shares his expertise in brass performance. Mr. Bialkin is also a frequent clinician and adjudicator, offering his insights to ensembles both domestically and internationally. He and his wife, Sabrina, also an teacher, live in Ramsey, NJ, where they share a deep passion for educating students, as well as a love for music and the arts
