Get Repost App • City of Paramount Starting Thursday, September 17, Metro will begin nighttime freeway closures on the I-105 between the I-710 and I-605 to support upcoming Segment 3 construction and help ease traffic and enhance safety on the 105. Work crews will be restriping freeway lanes to support new work zones along the corridor. Directional full freeway closures will take place over six nights, with corresponding ramps also closed to safely complete the work. Work will include:

• Nighttime freeway closures
• Freeway lane restriping
• HOV and inside lane closures beginning at 8pm
• Full freeway closures from 12am to 5am for eastbound closures
• Full freeway closures from 12am to 4am for westbound closures
• Traffic control measures, detours and advance signage
• Some additional nighttime ramp closures

Please be sure to plan your commute accordingly and follow posted detour signs. Work schedules are subject to change based on construction progress and weather conditions. Metro expects Segment 3 improvements between the I-710 and Studebaker Rd near the I-605 to continue through 2029. Why so long?

Because some of them HUGE transformers that keep the grid running ain’t sitting on a shelf at Home Depot 😂. Some can take 2+ YEARS to replace.

And before somebody says, “Man, that could never happen…” 👀

Look at Northwest Indiana.

Severe storms hit August 11, and thousands of people have reportedly gone into their 11th DAY WITHOUT POWER. Gary was one of the hardest-hit areas, with restoration work expected to stretch close to two weeks after the storm.

Now don’t get it twisted — what happened in Gary is NOWHERE NEAR the nationwide disaster experts are talking about.

But it definitely shows you something:

⚡️ When major electrical infrastructure gets damaged, flipping the lights back on ain’t always as simple as flipping a switch.

Nobody is saying America is about to lose power for 18 months tomorrow.

The warning is basically:

IF the wrong parts of this grid ever go down at the same time… we might find out REAL QUICK how dependent we are on electricity. 😳🔦
