Healing the Children New Jersey

Thank you to the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey for including HTCNJ in their Spring Golf Outing and Reception. We were grateful to receive a generous donation and have the opportunity to raise awareness for our programs and the children we serve. We enjoyed meeting CIANJ members and learning more about the association. CIANJ has over 900 members from all over the Garden State, united in the common purpose of making New Jersey the best place to live, work and conduct business.

Thank you to Professor Phoebe Tang and students in the Drew University Global Health Class for once again selecting HTCNJ as a partner for their civic engagement projects. Three groups of students spent the Spring semester raising awareness for HTCNJ, expanding the outreach of our Brighter Futures NJ program, meeting with our volunteers, and better understanding our global impact. The final presentations were impressive and a testament to how deeply the students connected with our work and the children we serve.

Our team of 18 pediatric surgical mission volunteers arrived safely in Santiago, Dominican Republic and are hard at work helping the young children at Hospital Dr. Arturo Grullon. The team had a busy clinic day evaluating 114 children for corrective eye surgeries and referral to our eyeglass prescription clinic. 60 surgeries were scheduled for the week and 28 children examined to receive free prescription eyeglasses. The first few days of surgery are underway! Thank you to our team for providing life-changing surgeries for these young kids.
