It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our brother,U.S. Army veteran, life-time member, and former Quartermaster, Gary (Gman) Amunson. On May 25th 2026.

Gary was a pillar of Post 2313 for many years. As Quartermaster, he kept our post running and always looked out for his fellow veterans. Whether he was wearing his VFW cap or just sharing stories and a smile, he embodied what it means to be a comrade. His service to our country and dedication to this post will not be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Gary’s family and friends. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

We will be having a celebration of life June 28th at 11am. At VFW Post 2313. Please come down and share stories and celebrate a great man.

Rest easy, Gman. We have the watch from here.

Thank you to Debra and Linda for decorating our float this year! It looked great! Thank you Will for pulling the float when we needed someone at the last minute. Thank you to everyone who was able to ride the float—especially State Commander Candace Lopez. As always, Dee and Marilyn were out there spreading the word and passing out Buddy Poppies. Mary Jo and Anthony were kept running between bars at the USO and the Post. Thank you to Will and Kris for stepping in to finish up at the USO while Mary Jo went to the post to help Anthony! That place was hopping! Thanks to Doug for making multiple runs to Safeway to get more supplies since we were swamped. Overall, we had a great weekend and now it’s time to take a breath. Sorry for any inconvenience but the Post will be closed today (Sunday, May 17) so that your bartenders can recuperate!
