πŸ“£ RULES REMINDER

Anglers, captains, and team admins are responsible for reading and understanding the complete THSBA rules before participating in a tournament.

Several important requirements are missed each season. Please pay close attention to:

🎣 Fishing license requirements
πŸ›₯️ Boat insurance requirements
πŸ’Ί Approved seating locations
🚫 Tournament off-limits areas

Do not wait until tournament week to review the rules. Taking a few minutes now can help prevent confusion, penalties, or disqualification later.

Please make sure everyone involved with your team has read the current 2026–2027 THSBA rules. If you have questions, contact THSBA before the tournament.

THSBA BOAT CAPTAIN SIDEPOT

Boat Captains now have an opportunity to compete for their own Big Fish Sidepot during every THSBA Regular Season Open Tournament!

πŸ’΅ Entry Fee
β€’ $20 per captain
β€’ Enter during tournament check-in
β€’ Cash or check only

🐟 How It Works
β€’ Captains may weigh in one (1) fish for the Boat Captain Big Fish Sidepot.
β€’ The captain's fish must remain completely separate from the anglers' catch at all times by using either a cull tag or a divided livewell.

πŸ† Sidepot Payout
β€’ 50% of the pot is awarded to the Boat Captain Big Fish Winner.
β€’ 50% is awarded as a THSBA Scholarship to the 4th Place Angler Team at that tournament.

⚠️ Important Reminders
β€’ Boat Captains may participate in the Sidepot only during THSBA Regular Season Open Tournaments.
β€’ Boat Captains may not fish during Regional Championships or the THSBA State Championship.
β€’ A captain's fish may never be placed in or contribute to an angler's tournament bag.

🚨 Rule Enforcement
Contributing a captain's fish to an angler's tournament bag is illegal in the State of Texas and falls under tournament fraud classifications. Any captain found contributing to an angler's tournament catch will be immediately disqualified, and the incident will be referred to the appropriate local law enforcement agency for investigation.

Thank you to all of our Boat Captains for the time and dedication you give to our student anglers.

Protect the integrity of our sport. Fish honestly, follow the rules, and help us ensure a fair competition for every angler.

🎣 CAN YOU FISH OUTSIDE YOUR HOME DIVISION?

Yes! THSBA anglers may fish as many tournaments across the state as they would like.

When fishing outside your home division:

βœ… Your team is eligible for all scholarships and prizes offered at the tournament.

βœ… You may fish with a different partner than you normally fish with in your home division.

❌ The tournament will not count toward your home division Angler of the Year standings.

⚠️ Important Team Rule: You cannot pair an angler from the tournament’s home division with an out-of-division angler. Both anglers on the team must be registered outside the division hosting the tournament.

Fish more lakes, compete against new teams, and take advantage of more opportunities across Texas!

🎣 TOURNAMENT SIGN-UP DETAILS

Before registering for a tournament, all anglers and boat captains must have a completed and active profile.

πŸ”΄ CHECK YOUR PROFILE

If you see red lettering in your profile details, an item still needs to be completed. You will not appear as an available angler or boat captain until all requirements are finished.

βœ… HOW TO REGISTER

Only ONE angler should register the team. During registration, that angler will select:

β€’ Their fishing partner, if applicable
β€’ Their boat captain
β€’ The tournament they want to enter

THSBA allows both solo anglers and two-angler teams.

πŸ“ SELECT THE CORRECT TOURNAMENT

THSBA has nine divisions across Texas, and multiple divisions may fish the same lake on different dates. Sort the tournaments by your division in the App before registering to ensure you select the correct event.

Need help with the registration process? Visit the How-To section of the THSBA website for a tournament sign-up video.

If your partner or boat captain does not appear as an available option, they have not completed all required profile information or paid their membership dues, if applicable.
