The first four downtown flowerpots are in place! Thank you to Diane VanWyk TenNapel and Country Side Gardens Hawarden Location for making them look so patriotic and beautiful. We are excited to add the next six flowerpots on Monday morning!

No need to worry, and no need to send anonymous letters! We had already planned to include the time capsule as part of our Big Sioux River Days festivities. In the meantime, stop by the Hawarden Public Library and visit the time capsule in its permanent home!

Dear author of the anonymous mystery letter... you have our attention! 👀

The time capsule is currently on display at the Hawarden Public Library and is available for viewing during regular library hours. Feel free to stop by and check it out anytime.

A quick clarification: the time capsule project was a partnership between West Sioux Elementary School and the Hawarden Public Library. While the Hawarden Chamber has been cheering the project on from the sidelines, it was not a project partner.

We'd love to see more community members stop in and explore this special piece of Hawarden history!

Thank you to Chelsea Bonnema for coming on board the chamber retail/events committee and helping to rebranding our event and redesign the vendor fair flyers. We have already picked up 26 new vendors!!

We would love to welcome more volunteers and community partners to help these events become a staple of Big Sioux River Days. Interest in these events is strong, and with additional support, we can continue making the weekend bigger and better for the entire community. The Hawarden Chamber is already heavily involved in organizing the rest of the weekend festivities, and extra volunteers and event hosts would make a huge impact.

Exciting things are coming to downtown Hawarden!! We can’t wait to receive our new commercial grade flower pots. No more chasing runaway pots through the intersections on windy days. A huge thank you to the Hawarden Community Foundation for helping make this project possible!
