Exciting news! The Trafficking Survivors Relief Act (TSRA) has passed the U.S. House of Representatives!

We're one step closer to gaining, for the first time, a federal law that will recognize that survivors should not be punished for crimes they were forced to commit and will give survivors a pathway to clear their federal criminal records.

I watched this video and was shaken with holy anger, because I know the unbearable pain of losing a loved one to the very evil it exposes. The video produced by BBC Africa, to whom all rights belong, reveals children who were trapped, deceived, and exploited, innocence stolen in ways no child should ever endure. For me, it is not distant, it is personal. This is why we are relentless in our mission here in Harford County and in Kenya through trusted partners.

At HopeWorks Global, we refuse to stand by. We fight back through prevention, education, and empowerment. So far, we have touched the lives of 25+ families in Kenya through AfroKouture and engaged in 500+ meaningful conversations across Harford and Baltimore counties. Every handmade item you purchase through AfroKouture becomes a lifeline, providing dignity, stability, and hope for communities who are too often left vulnerable and unprotected.

Right now, we have received a donation of sewing machines that could launch a new opportunity for 13 widows ready to learn, and we are working to create opportunities for some of the girls we were able to reach through our local partners in Kenya. It will cost $425 to ship them, and with your help, we can meet this goal and open the door to skills, income, and hope.
