The McNicholas family has faced unimaginable loss. After Nick suffered a debilitating stroke in 2023 and tragically passed away in March 2024, Kyle was left to navigate her own grief while caring for their children.

Today, four of her boys, ages 8–19, are still at home. As they prepare for a new school year, our community has an opportunity to make things a little easier.

Recently, our community came together to support Karen, a Havertown neighbor facing significant health and financial challenges. Once again, you showed what it means to be a community that takes care of its own.

Karen wanted to share this message with everyone who helped:

“Thank you so much to Annie and the whole group for organizing this for me. I am so thankful to everyone at Compassion United Havertown. Most of all, thank you to all of the kind and thoughtful people who were willing to help me through their donations. I am blessed, thankful, and so appreciative of every compassionate heart involved.”

To everyone who donated groceries, household essentials, financial support, or simply helped spread the word, thank you. Your generosity provided more than practical help; it reminded a neighbor that she is surrounded by a community that cares.

Did you know? Since March 2026, we distributed nearly $3,500 in direct assistance to local families in need.

As CUH continues to grow, so does the impact we’re able to make in our community. These grants have helped families cover essential expenses like car payments, past-due electric bills, and even a water heater replacement.

Sometimes a little help at the right moment can make a big difference.
