The Village of Haverstraw, in collaboration with Haverstraw Riverwide Arts, is seeking muralists to submit concepts for a large-scale historical mural commemorating Haverstraw, NY. Artists will have the unique opportunity to create a lasting piece of public art that embodies the village’s rich history, including its significant brickmaking industry, diverse immigrant communities, and enduring resilience during the Civil War era. The selected mural design will be digitally printed on vinyl and installed on West Street in downtown Haverstraw, NY, covering approximately 600 square feet of wall space. The mural will be installed by Haverstraw Riverwide Arts.

The total budget for the project is $8,000 for a high-resolution PDF. This covers the artist’s final design fee and necessary revisions. The selected artist or team will collaborate with project organizers to finalize the design and oversee production. Fabrication, printing, materials, and installation are the responsibility of Haverstraw Riverwide Arts. Payment schedule and contract details will be provided upon selection.

• July 1, 2026: Submission deadline for entries.
• July 15, 2026: Announcement of finalists; each finalist receives a $500 design development fee.
• August 1, 2026: Final design development submissions due from finalists.
• August 15, 2026: Final design selected.

Haverstraw Riverwide Arts is excited to announce our FIFTH outdoor mural project--and biggest one to date! A Call for Artists will be issued soon. The theme of this mural is "The History of Haverstraw." Located in downtown Haverstraw, we anticipate this mural to be unveiled early fall. Stay tuned for more updates and a link to the Call.

Creating Home Together: Pride Center Hosts Live LGBTQ+ Art Experience in Nyack
The Rockland County Pride Center is inviting LGBTQ+ artists and allies to join No Place Like Home, a live art happening exploring home in all its forms: chosen, inherited, lost, remade, remembered, and fought for.
On Monday, May 4, 2026, starting 5 PM, join them across from the Pride Center at 28 S. Franklin Street in Nyack for an evening of artmaking featuring celebrated local artist Bobby Belfry.
Artists will create individual original works in a shared space, each responding to the theme in their own style and medium.
All mediums are welcome, including painting, collage, photography, fiber, clay, watercolor, drawing, and mixed media.
Work created through this event will be featured in the Pride Center’s June art show.
They are especially interested in work that reflects the layered ways home lives inside q***r communities: through migration, diaspora, Black and Brown memory, chosen family, faith, survival, tenderness, style, kinship, and joy.
