New Artwork Alert!

Stop by the Post and take a look at the incredible talent from our local community!

We are proud to display the Poppy Contest entries from the creative Grade 2 students at Walnut Square Elementary School. These young artists have done a fantastic job honoring our Veterans through their work.

The artwork is posted throughout the canteen for all members to enjoy.

Why it matters: The poppy is a powerful symbol of remembrance and hope. Seeing these bright, thoughtful designs from the next generation is a wonderful reminder of why our American Legion Auxiliary Post 4 does what it does.

Make sure to grab a drink and do a "gallery walk" next time you're at the Post. You won’t want to miss these!

Operation Compliance has been a strong success at the Post.

We’ve seen a major increase in membership awareness, more eligible folks are signing up, and - most importantly - proper guest sign-in across the board. That’s exactly what this effort was about.

As we move forward, we’re making a small adjustment to keep things running smoothly behind the bar. Members can expect to show their card upon their first order, with our staff handling the rest from there.

Our focus remains the same: ensuring all guests are properly signed in and maintaining the integrity of our Post.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and support as we continue to improve the experience for our members and their guests.

Quick Reminder for Members

As a private club, guests are always welcome - but they must be signed in by a member and remain with that member during their visit. This policy protects the Post and ensures we remain in compliance with local regulations. We appreciate everyone helping us keep things running the right way.

If you have questions about membership or signing in guests, just ask.

Why Membership Matters

Our Post operates as a private Veterans organization, and membership is what keeps it that way.

It’s important to note that our liquor license classifies us specifically as a Veterans Social Club. This designation means we operate under different rules and regulations than a standard public bar, reinforcing our status as a private space for those who served.

By becoming a member, you help:

* Support Veterans and their families: Your dues and presence directly fund our mission.
* Preserve the Post for future generations: We are stewards of a legacy that requires active participation to survive.
* Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Membership is what allows us to maintain our private club status and unique licensing.
* Keep our doors open: We exist for the people this Post was built for -- you.

We’ve been thrilled to welcome several new members this week, and we encourage anyone eligible to join us. If you have questions about membership or eligibility, just ask an officer -- they’re happy to help.

Strong membership keeps a strong Post.

You Might Be Eligible to Join Our Post

Over the past couple days we've had a lot of great conversations with people who didn’t realize they qualify to be part of our Post.

If you are a Veteran, the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a Veteran, or the spouse or parent of a Veteran, there is a good chance you are eligible to join one of our American Legion family organizations.

Membership helps support Veterans, our community, and keeps our Post strong for the future.

If you're curious about eligibility, stop by the Post and we’ll gladly walk you through it. Applications are available and we’re happy to help.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up this week — welcome aboard!

Help Us Protect Our Post!

Today marks the start of Operation Compliance (April 13 – May 13). These steps aren't just about rules; they are vital to protecting our license and our charter.

Please help our staff by having your Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons card ready for every transaction. If you're bringing a guest, remember to sign them in immediately and ensure they depart with you.

No Card, No Service, No Exceptions.

Thank you for helping us keep our doors open for years to come!

Investing in our community’s future!

We are so proud of our Auxiliary Unit for spending the morning at Walnut Square Elementary. It’s vital to teach the next generation about the meaning of service, sacrifice, and the history behind the poppy.

The experience was made even more impactful by having a Legionnaire join the presentation. Having a Veteran there in person helped bridge the gap between history and the real-life stories of those who served. Seeing the students' enthusiasm as they kicked off the National Poppy Poster Contest was the highlight of the week!

A huge thank you to the staff and students at Walnut Square for being such wonderful, respectful hosts.

OPERATION COMPLIANCE: PROTECTING THE POST

Starting Monday, April 13th, Post 4 is launching "Operation Compliance." This is a 4-week mission to ensure our canteen is in 100% standing with The American Legion, our state liquor license, and city requirements.

Our Charter and our License are the lifeblood of this Post. To protect them, we are getting back to basics. Starting next week, the following will be strictly enforced:

PHASE 1: CARD VERIFICATION
A current Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons membership card must be presented for every drink purchase. Whether you’re a new face or a 30-year regular, please have your card ready for the bartender. No card, no service.

PHASE 2: GUEST LOG INTEGRITY
All guests must be signed into the Guest Book by a member in good standing immediately upon entry.

PHASE 3: DEPARTING TOGETHER
Per Legion and State regulations, guests are only permitted while their sponsoring member is present. When the member leaves, the guest must also depart.

Why the one-week notice?

We want everyone prepared for a successful mission! If you’ve misplaced your card or need to renew your 2026 dues, please see your organization’s Adjutant or Secretary this week so you’re ready by April 13th.

This isn't about being difficult—it’s about ensuring our doors stay open for the next generation of Veterans. Thank you for helping us keep our Post secure!
