About Oleander Garden Club
Our programs include such topics as wildlife corridors, pollinator gardens, growing fruit trees in South Florida, gardening in small spaces, flower arranging, plastic pollution,

picking the right spot for your plant, the planting and care of succulents, and so much more. The speakers are experts in their respective disciplines and presentations are both educational and entertaining. In addition to programs, we organize “field trips” which take us to educational locations or provide opportunities to socialize and experience new venues. Examples of field trips include Pan’s Garden in Palm Beach, Gene Joyner’s Unbelievable Acres, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, and Mounts Botanical Garden. Oleander Garden Club is a member of National Garden Clubs, Deep South Garden Clubs and District X of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. This opens the door to numerous opportunities for increasing, knowledge and networking with like-minded individuals and groups. The National Garden Club provides educational schools on the art and science of Landscape Design, Environment, Gardening and Floral Design. We can participate in national, regional and state conventions. Offered at the District level are bi-annual meetings and a two-day Tropical Short Course. In addition, our member clubs host a wide range of special events. Membership in Oleander Garden Club offers many opportunities to learn, to socialize, and to develop friendships with people who share the same interests. For instance, our book club focuses on reading about ecology and natural history and has prompted lively discussions about environmental issues as well as environmental projects such as the pollinator corridor. We wrapped up another wonderful year with our annual luncheon at the National Croquet Center. Sandy James Fine Food and Productions always does an outstanding job for us! And what a year ... worked with our Junior Gardeners in the City of Greenacres, launched our pollinator kit project, completed Phase I of the
re-landscaping of the Armory Art Center, worked with Habitat for Humanity to install native landscapes in new homes, sponsored three campers to attend the Wekiva Youth Camp this summer and so much more. Becky Walton installed our new officers and
Kitty Drew and Janet Stein were honored with a Pillar of Pride Award from the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs for their exemplary contributions to our Club. We look forward to the 2026-2027 garden club year with some exciting new projects
being researched over the summer. Stay tuned!

We very proud of our partnership with the Armory Art Center and residents of the Flamingo Park neighborhood. With a
generous grant from Gentlemen of the Garden, we just completed
Phase ! of re-landscaping the Armory with native plants. This will reduce the cost of maintenance as well as provide habitat value especially for the endangered Atala butterfly. Members of the Flamingo Park neighborhood are watering and monitoring
the newly installed plants. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by for a look and stand by for news about Phase II.

Most container gardens fail because the plants in the same pot want different things.

These six trios are matched by sun, water, and growth habit — a tall thriller at center, a medium filler around it, and a trailing spiller over the edge. Same needs, no competition, every plant earning its space.

🌱 The combos:

- The tomato tower — cherry tomato at center, basil filling the middle and repelling pests, nasturtium trailing over the rim and trapping aphids before they reach the tomato. Triple harvest from one pot

- The salsa bowl — jalapeño upright at center, cilantro filling the middle, trailing cherry tomato spilling fruit over the edge. One pot, one recipe

- The pepper trio — bell pepper at center, compact marigolds deterring whiteflies at soil level, sweet potato vine cascading over the edge and covering every inch of exposed soil

- The pollinator pot — tall zinnia for bees, compact salvia for butterflies, trailing alyssum at the rim for beneficial insects. A refueling station in one container

- The herb tower — rosemary standing tall at center, basil bushing around it, thyme creeping over the edge. All Mediterranean, all drought-tolerant, same watering schedule, same cuisine

- The snack pot — cherry tomato fruiting all summer, strawberry producing in flushes, mint trailing over the edge safely contained in the pot. Walk-by snacking from spring to fall

Tall center. Medium middle. Trailing edge. Match the water and the sun, and the pot runs itself 🌿
