Free meals will be distributed on Thursdays through August 13 at the following locations and times:

📍 Havelock Area
• Havelock High School: 9:00–10:00 a.m.
• Harlowe Community Center: 9:00–9:30 a.m.

📍 Vanceboro Area
• West Craven High School: 9:00–10:00 a.m.
• Bower’s Park, 7909 Main Street: 9:00–9:30 a.m.
• The Oaks Apartments, 401 Buck Lane: 9:40–10:10 a.m.
• Bailey Lane Apartments, 255 Bailey Lane #1: 10:20–10:50 a.m.
• Juniper Chapel, 655 Piney Neck Road: 11:00–11:30 a.m.

📍 Bridgeton Area
• Bridgeton Elementary School: 9:00–10:00 a.m.

📍 Dover and Cove City Areas
• Cove City Library: 12:00–12:30 p.m.
• Dover Town Hall: 12:45–1:15 p.m.

📍 New Bern Area
• New Bern High School: 9:00–10:00 a.m.

A special thank-you to our School Nutrition Department for preparing meals for both on-site service and weekly distribution. In June, the department served more than 47,000 meals—an increase of 12,000 meals from June 2025!

We appreciate their dedication to ensuring children across our community have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer. 💛

This Wednesday is the 1st!

This week at RCS is a full one as we continue meeting needs across our community.

We’ll begin with our Pop-Up Food Distribution tomorrow, helping families access fresh and shelf-stable groceries in a convenient, dignified way.

On Wednesday, Operation Outpost will be in Havelock, bringing food and support directly to neighbors where they are.

Please note: RCS will be closed on Friday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. Essential services will remain open, including the community kitchen and emergency shelter.

🇺🇸 New Military Family Fee Waiver Begins June 1, 2026

Scouting America is expanding access to Scouting for military-connected youth by waiving the **$85 national youth registration fee** for eligible military families.

This new program is funded through charitable donations and is designed to help military families connect their children with the adventure, leadership opportunities, and community that Scouting provides.

🎖️ Eagle Scout Vincent La Padula, CEO of J.P. Morgan Workplace Solutions, recently contributed $100,000 to help launch the initiative. As an Eagle Scout and father of two Eagle Scouts, he believes no young person should miss out on Scouting because of financial barriers.

✅ Youth whose parent or guardian currently serves in:
• Active Duty Military
• National Guard
• Reserve Components

# # # How It Works

1️⃣ Register online through Scouting America
2️⃣ Select **"Get Military Family Discount"** during checkout
3️⃣ Complete the verification process
4️⃣ Apply the discount code provided

The $85 national youth registration fee will be waived. Local council fees, unit dues, optional purchases, and processing fees may still apply.

Military families often face frequent moves, deployments, and changing communities. Scouting provides a consistent program where youth can build friendships, develop leadership skills, and find a sense of belonging—no matter where they live.
