The number of volunteers was not big this year, but this group of wonderful people showed up to put flags on the graves of almost 1,300 veterans buried at Laurel Hill on Friday morning. They did an outstanding job. And the Havana American Legion was very grateful for their assistance.

Our first fundraiser in quite a while was a huge success. We want to thank everyone who supported our cookout/bake sale that was held at Havana Farm and Home on Saturday May 2nd. The money we raised will help us provide services to our area veterans as well as the veterans at the Quincy Veterans Home. Thanks again for your support.

American Legion Post 138 hosted a Veterans Day event to honor veterans and also remember that this Veterans Day marked the 30th anniversary of the dedication of the Korean/Vietnam/Panama War Monument.

Do you get free greeting cards in the mail and don't know what to do with them. Donate them to us. We use them for the veterans. Members of the Auxiliary and Post will be going to the Quincy Veterans home to help with their Christmas Gift Baskets and help hand out stockings on December 3rd. I would like to take Christmas Cards for the veterans also. If you have Christmas and/or birthday cards that you would like to donate to a good cause we are happy to take them.

POW/MIA Recognition Day at Arcadia Care of Havana. Since the residents were unable to attend our POW/MIA Recognition Day candle light vigil on Friday night their Activity Director Brittany asked us if we would do a modified ceremony for the residents at the facility on Thursday afternoon. We were happy to oblige.

We will be hosting a candle light vigil for Mason County's 11 service men Missing in Action and 3 who died while being held as prisoners of war on Friday September 19 at 8:00 p.m. in the Mason County court yard. The public is invited to attend this event.
