Brunclik-Konop Post 540 and Unit 540

It’s on a Friday this time and not a Saturday, and at 6pm not the afternoon 😊the auxiliary will again have 10 luscious, yummy home made pies for raffle too! A reminder that funds raised by the Post and Auxiliary go to local veterans. In the past few months Post 540 donated $6000.00 to the Barron County Veterans Service Office and the Auxiliary Unit 540 donated $8000.00 to VSO. We thank each of you that supported our fundraising events and help make funds available for the needs of our Veterans. See you this Friday night at Poor Folks Saloon🥰

Senate Bill 387 now 2025 Wisconsin Act 207, expands eligibility for Wisconsin veterans to have veteran status indicated on their driver’s license or state identification card. Under the bill, certain former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, including members of the reserves and National Guard who completed their obligated service and received a discharge of either honorable or under honorable conditions will qualify.

Our veterans will now receive the recognition they have earned and it will be easier to verify eligibility for veteran benefits, discounts, and services.

I am proud to have co-authored this legislation with Sen. André Jacque!

Ready, set, poppy! 🏁 This year for National Poppy Day®, the American Legion Auxiliary is going above and beyond to engage with local communities and bring awareness to the significance and meaning of the poppy by launching a virtual 5K in May. 🏃‍♀️‍➡️ Along with other National Poppy Day activities organized by ALA units and departments, this national event aims to bring more awareness and recognition of the poppy’s significance. 🇺🇸

The nontraditional place setting of the Military Child’s Table Setting Ceremony includes:

*The potted flowering plant symbolizing that a military child may flower and flourish where they are planted.

*The hand spade recognizes that they may be transplanted to a new place in the world at a moment’s notice.

*The birthday hat and unlit candles, along with the baseball and glove, and ballet slippers represent special occasions that are missed.

*The family photo depicting a child with his/her uniformed parent demonstrates our country’s strength.

*The final touch to the table setting is the American flag to remind us that families are united in their commitment to national service, at home or away.

April is Month of the Military Child. This is one of several posts throughout the month of April celebrating military children.

Every March 29, we honor and recognize the 3 million servicemembers who were deployed and served in the Vietnam War. 🇺🇸 March 29 was chosen to remember the last U.S. combat troops who departed from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. On and around the same day, Hanoi released the last of their acknowledged prisoners of war. The end of the war is recognized to be the Fall of Saigon, which happened April 30, 1975, with civilians and U.S. personnel evacuating. There are more than 58,000 deaths documented and inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. ❤️

To all Vietnam veterans, your service mattered, and it will never be forgotten. We are forever thankful for your courage and the sacrifices you made for our freedom. Today and every day, we honor you.

Today the nation recognizes National Vietnam War Veterans Day on the 53rd anniversary of the date the last combat troops left South Vietnam. We honor Vietnam Veterans and their families every day for their service and sacrifices, and we remember the men and women who put the lives of others ahead of their own. At VVA we welcome you home.

Poppy makers are needed to help make them.

Fewer veterans making poppies means less help from funds of poppies donations.

Any age veteran can assemble poppies.

A demonstration time can be set up to learn to make them.
