Romans 4:20 says, “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God.” Abraham believed God; he believed God would accomplish what He had promised. We can have God’s peace also in the midst of turmoil and uncertainty. We can trust in the promises of God.

Romans 13:10 says, “Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” The Ten Commandments were about loving God (the first 4 commandments) and loving others (the remaining 6 commandments). “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven,” says Matthew 5:16. In preparation for leaving the earth, Jesus told His disciples to let their light shine by virtue of their good works so that others would “see” Jesus and glorify Christ. Letting our light shine to a lost and needy world is our commandment.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord…” says Jeremiah 17:7. The world was in a constant state of turmoil and war during Jeremiah’s life. Just as today, many people are looking for someone to trust. Trusting in the Lord doesn’t mean all troubles will cease but trusting in God brings hope.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit,” says Romans 15:13. This is not “I hope it doesn’t rain” kind of hope. Rather, it is “an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.” This is a hope that never disappoints, based on God’s faithfulness.
