As we wrap up another amazing five-week Summer Reading & Camp Program at Aldersgate Mission, we wanted to share some of the wonderful memories we made together!

One of the most touching moments of our summer came when my daughter, Rev. Dr. Kitsy Marie Dixon, lovingly dedicated a special fruit drink in memory of her father, the late Curtis Dixon Jr., and shared it with our Aldersgate children and staff. This refreshing treat—made with watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and delicious Asian jellies—was a huge hit with the children! It was a beautiful way to honor Mr. Curtis, our beloved former bus driver, whose kindness, love, and gentle spirit continue to live on in our hearts. He is deeply missed and forever remembered.

Our summer was packed with excitement! We explored Laser Mania, enjoyed fun-filled days at the park, created wonderful arts and crafts, and made memories that will last a lifetime. We wrapped up camp with our spectacular “Aldersgate’s Got Talent!” show, where parents and families gathered to cheer on our amazing children. They sang, danced, acted, and showcased their incredible gifts with confidence and joy. We couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them!

Now we’re excited to begin a new chapter! Starting August 3, Aldersgate Mission will transition into our After-School Program, where children will receive academic support while continuing to enjoy enriching activities like sports, drama, music, arts and crafts, leadership development, and so much more.

Aldersgate Summer Camp Cooking Classes were a huge success!

Our campers had a wonderful time learning how to make fun, simple, and delicious snacks they can prepare on their own. Throughout the summer, the children became junior chefs as they created tasty recipes including Ants on a Log, Parfaits, Peanut Butter Cornflake Clusters, Milkshakes, and Root Beer, Strawberry, and Peach Floats.

The smiles on their faces said it all! Every recipe was a hit, and the children proudly shared that everything they made was absolutely delicious. Not only did they enjoy eating their creations, but they also gained confidence in the kitchen by learning easy snacks they can make at home when Mom and Dad need a little break.

Aldersgate Mission of Main Street United Methodist Church�Summer Camp & Reading Program
Our Aldersgate Mission Summer Camp and Reading Program continues to provide wonderful opportunities for learning, discovery, and fun!
One of the highlights of our summer was an exciting visit to the LIFT Center in Hattiesburg. Our children enjoyed an unforgettable hands-on learning experience as they explored the fascinating world of bees. They learned about the important role bees play in God’s creation, tasted fresh honey, and each received beautiful flowers to take home and plant as a reminder of their visit.
The children also explored the Learning Center, where they spent time reading books, playing with puppets, engaging in imaginative role play, and enjoying the interactive play kitchen. They were especially captivated by the reptiles and birds, which sparked curiosity and excitement throughout the day.
By the end of our visit, the children were already asking, “When can we come back?” Their joy and enthusiasm made it clear that this was an experience they will never forget.
We are deeply grateful to the staff and volunteers at the LIFT Center for their warm hospitality and for providing such an enriching educational adventure. Experiences like these help nurture a love for learning, encourage curiosity, and remind our children that God’s world is filled with amazing wonders waiting to be discovered.

🎉💦 Oops… I forgot to share our final day of VBS with our Main Street United Methodist Church family! What an incredible week we had learning about Jesus, growing in faith, and making wonderful memories together.
The fun didn’t stop there! The very next day, Aldersgate celebrated with our BIG Water Splash Explosion! 🌊☀️ Children from Aldersgate, Main Street VBS, along with family and friends, enjoyed an unforgettable day filled with giant water slides, bouncers, delicious food, exciting games, laughter, and lots of refreshing fun!
Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who helped make these days so special. Thank you to all our volunteers, families, and friends for making this a joyful celebration of faith and fellowship.

Day 3 of VBS has been another wonderful day of fellowship, faith, and fun! ✨

Our Aldersgate Mission children are continuing their exciting journey through the days of ancient Rome, learning more about Jesus, the Apostle Paul, and the early church. Through hands-on activities, Bible lessons, music, and laughter, they are growing in faith while creating lasting memories.

The children are truly enjoying this special Vacation Bible School experience with Main Street United Methodist Church. We are grateful for this partnership and for the opportunity to learn, worship, and serve together.

Day 2 of VBS Adventures! 🇮🇹✝️

The children of Aldersgate Mission are having an amazing time on their journey through ancient Rome at VBS with Main Street United Methodist Church!

Today, our young travelers learned about the Apostle Paul, explored what life was like for the early Christians, and discovered how believers worshipped in the underground church during challenging times. Through hands-on activities, lessons, games, and fellowship, they are experiencing God’s Word in exciting new ways.

🌟✈️ Aldersgate Mission Takes a Spirit-Led Journey to Rome! ✈️🌟
What an amazing first day of Vacation Bible School! Today, the children of Aldersgate Mission embarked on a faith-filled adventure to ancient Rome through the wonderful VBS ministry of Main Street United Methodist Church, our primary partner and provider.
Our children stepped back in time as they explored the sights, sounds, games, food, and spiritual lessons of the Roman world. Through hands-on activities and engaging Bible teachings, they learned how God’s love and message transformed lives even in the days of the early church.
We are incredibly grateful to God for this opportunity and extend our heartfelt thanks to Susan Bounds, the VBS leaders, crew members, volunteers, and every team member who worked so hard to create such a meaningful and life-changing experience for our children during their summer vacation.
The joy on their faces, the lessons in their hearts, and the memories being made are truly a blessing to witness!

🌧️☀️ Rainy Day, Summer Fun at Aldersgate Mission! 🦎🐍🎨

On Friday, June 19, 2026, our Aldersgate Mission children and youth of Main Street United Methodist Church enjoyed a wonderful day filled with learning, wildlife, and fun! Although the weather was rainy, our spirits were bright as we visited the Hattiesburg Library for a special program.

The children spent the morning playing games, creating arts and crafts, and enjoying an exciting live animal show. It was a memorable experience as they learned about wildlife up close while sharing laughter and fellowship with friends.

At Aldersgate Mission, we are committed to providing enriching experiences that help children learn, grow, and have fun in a safe and loving environment.

🎉🐭 Aldersgate Mission Summer Fun at Chuck E. Cheese! 🐭🎉

The children of Aldersgate Mission at Main Street United Methodist Church had another exciting day of our Summer Camp and Reading Program! After a great time of learning, reading, and growing together, our students enjoyed a wonderful field trip to Chuck E. Cheese filled with laughter, games, smiles, and unforgettable memories.

We are so grateful for opportunities like these that encourage friendship, build confidence, and reward our children for their hard work and participation throughout the summer.

🎨✨ What an amazing final day of Arts & Crafts with the Junior Auxiliary of Hattiesburg! ✨🎨
