🍂📚 Aldersgate Mission’s Fall Back-to-School Program Is Off to a Magnificent Start! 📚🍂

We are so excited to welcome our students back to Aldersgate Mission! The school year is underway, and we are back to learning, growing, and helping our children reach their God-given potential.

Our students are receiving homework help and academic support, and we are grateful for the wonderful volunteers coming from area colleges and high schools to work alongside our staff. Together, along with our outstanding board of Directors, we are making a difference in the lives of our children and helping them grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

Please enjoy some of our back-to-school pictures! ❤️

You will see our children learning and studying together through our reading program, expressing their creativity through arts and crafts, and staying active through our sports program.

Most importantly, you will see dedicated staff and volunteers at work—encouraging children, building confidence, supporting education, and changing lives one child at a time.

We are thankful for every person who gives their time, talents, prayers, and support to help make Aldersgate Mission a place where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

As we wrap up another amazing five-week Summer Reading & Camp Program at Aldersgate Mission, we wanted to share some of the wonderful memories we made together!

One of the most touching moments of our summer came when my daughter, Rev. Dr. Kitsy Marie Dixon, lovingly dedicated a special fruit drink in memory of her father, the late Curtis Dixon Jr., and shared it with our Aldersgate children and staff. This refreshing treat—made with watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and delicious Asian jellies—was a huge hit with the children! It was a beautiful way to honor Mr. Curtis, our beloved former bus driver, whose kindness, love, and gentle spirit continue to live on in our hearts. He is deeply missed and forever remembered.

Our summer was packed with excitement! We explored Laser Mania, enjoyed fun-filled days at the park, created wonderful arts and crafts, and made memories that will last a lifetime. We wrapped up camp with our spectacular “Aldersgate’s Got Talent!” show, where parents and families gathered to cheer on our amazing children. They sang, danced, acted, and showcased their incredible gifts with confidence and joy. We couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them!

Take a look through our photos and celebrate these special moments with us!

Now we’re excited to begin a new chapter! Starting August 3, Aldersgate Mission will transition into our After-School Program, where children will receive academic support while continuing to enjoy enriching activities like sports, drama, music, arts and crafts, leadership development, and so much more.

Enrollment is happening now! If you’re looking for a safe, caring, and fun environment where your child can learn, grow, and thrive, we’d love to welcome your family.

For more information, please contact our office at Aldersgate Mission in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Thank you to our wonderful children, families, volunteers, supporters, and staff for making this summer unforgettable. We wish everyone a safe, happy, and blessed rest of the summer—and we can’t wait to see you this fall! ❤️☀️📚🎨🎭🏀

Aldersgate Summer Camp Cooking Classes were a huge success!

Our campers had a wonderful time learning how to make fun, simple, and delicious snacks they can prepare on their own. Throughout the summer, the children became junior chefs as they created tasty recipes including Ants on a Log, Parfaits, Peanut Butter Cornflake Clusters, Milkshakes, and Root B**r, Strawberry, and Peach Floats.

The smiles on their faces said it all! Every recipe was a hit, and the children proudly shared that everything they made was absolutely delicious. Not only did they enjoy eating their creations, but they also gained confidence in the kitchen by learning easy snacks they can make at home when Mom and Dad need a little break.

At Aldersgate, we’re committed to teaching life skills while making learning fun. We invite you to take a look at these wonderful photos and celebrate the joy, creativity, and accomplishments of our amazing campers!

Aldersgate Mission of Main Street United Methodist ChurchSummer Camp & Reading Program
Our Aldersgate Mission Summer Camp and Reading Program continues to provide wonderful opportunities for learning, discovery, and fun!
One of the highlights of our summer was an exciting visit to the LIFT Center in Hattiesburg. Our children enjoyed an unforgettable hands-on learning experience as they explored the fascinating world of bees. They learned about the important role bees play in God’s creation, tasted fresh honey, and each received beautiful flowers to take home and plant as a reminder of their visit.
The children also explored the Learning Center, where they spent time reading books, playing with puppets, engaging in imaginative role play, and enjoying the interactive play kitchen. They were especially captivated by the reptiles and birds, which sparked curiosity and excitement throughout the day.
By the end of our visit, the children were already asking, “When can we come back?” Their joy and enthusiasm made it clear that this was an experience they will never forget.
We are deeply grateful to the staff and volunteers at the LIFT Center for their warm hospitality and for providing such an enriching educational adventure. Experiences like these help nurture a love for learning, encourage curiosity, and remind our children that God’s world is filled with amazing wonders waiting to be discovered.
Thank you, LIFT Center, for making a lasting impact on the lives of our Aldersgate Mission children!

🌟✈️ Aldersgate Mission Takes a Spirit-Led Journey to Rome! ✈️🌟
What an amazing first day of Vacation Bible School! Today, the children of Aldersgate Mission embarked on a faith-filled adventure to ancient Rome through the wonderful VBS ministry of Main Street United Methodist Church, our primary partner and provider.
Our children stepped back in time as they explored the sights, sounds, games, food, and spiritual lessons of the Roman world. Through hands-on activities and engaging Bible teachings, they learned how God’s love and message transformed lives even in the days of the early church.
We are incredibly grateful to God for this opportunity and extend our heartfelt thanks to Susan Bounds, the VBS leaders, crew members, volunteers, and every team member who worked so hard to create such a meaningful and life-changing experience for our children during their summer vacation.
The joy on their faces, the lessons in their hearts, and the memories being made are truly a blessing to witness!
