North Forrest VFD

North Forrest VFD Provide fire and rescue services for the Glendale, Eatonville, Maybank and Providence communities. Since forming in 1978, the department has continued to grow.

In December 1986, Forrest County approved the North Forrest Fire Protection District, which the department is still under contract with. NFVFD has operated under 8 fire chiefs in their 27 years of service. At present, the NFVFD covers 27 square miles of rural area, which follows the Glendale Water Utility District water lines. The department operates 5 trucks from 2 fire stations in the communitie

s of Glendale, Eatonville, Providence and Maybank. The NFVFD presently has a roster with 26 fire fighters.

The holidays are almost here, and weโ€™re excited to bring Christmas cheer straight to our neighborhoods!

The North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department will be traveling through Eatonville, Glendale, Maybank, and Providence with our fire trucks โ€” and Santa himself will be riding along! ๐ŸŽ…โœจ

๐ŸŽ Santa will be tossing out goodies for the kids, so be sure to come outside, wave, and celebrate with us as we spread holiday joy throughout the community.

On Wednesday, December 17, shortly before 2:30 PM, firefighters with the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department and Forrest County Fire Services responded to the northbound lanes of Interstate 59 between mile markers 71 and 72 following a reported two-vehicle motor vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle.

Upon arrival, first-responding units found significant damage to the passenger vehicle with both northbound lanes of traffic blocked. Firefighters immediately began assisting the driver of the passenger vehicle, who was suffering from critical injuries. The patient was quickly extricated, and care was transferred to AAA Ambulance Service who carried the driver to a local hospital, however the driver did sustain fatal injuries.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours assisting with traffic control while the MS Highway Patrol conducted a crash reconstruction and crews worked to clear both vehicles from the roadway.

โš ๏ธ Drivers traveling on Interstate 59 are reminded to remain vigilant, especially when traveling through construction zones, and to stay alert for changing traffic conditions.

December 15, just after 5:00 PM, First Responders with the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the intersection of Evelyn Gandy at Monroe Road to the report of a two vehicle accident with possible injuries.

Upon arrival units found all Westbound lanes blocked. Three adults and two children escaped with minor injuries. All refused medical transport.

No further injuries were reported.
The MS Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of this incident.

Last night, December 13, firefighters from the Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department and the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department came together to enjoy a Christmas dinner at Mom & Dadโ€™s Country Cooking in Petal.

The evening provided a great opportunity for firefighters and their families to gather, fellowship, and reflect on the accomplishments of the past year. In 2025 alone, both departments combined to respond to nearly 1,200 calls for service while proudly serving the residents of Forrest County.

During the dinner, annual awards were also presented. We are proud to recognize Brendan Chatham as the Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter of the Year and Christopher Barney as the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter of the Year. Both individuals have gone above and beyond in the performance of their duties and exemplify dedication, professionalism, and service to their communities.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Mom & Dadโ€™s Country Cooking for hosting our event on their normal off day. Your generosity and hospitality are truly appreciated.

December 8, just after 6:00 PM, First Responders with the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the area of Eatonville Rd at Bura Rainey Rd to the report of a two vehicle accident with possible injuries.

Upon arrival units reported the road blocked with debris blocking both lanes of travel. Both pickups involved sustained heavy damage.

Fortunately Both drivers were able to escaped with minor injuries, all occupants refused medical transport.

December 4, at 8:40 PM, First Responders with the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the area of I-59 South at Exit 69 to the report of a single vehicle rollover with possible injuries.

Upon arrival units found an orange Ford Ranger upside down in the drainage culvert, with the driver trapped inside.

Firefighters cut the driver free from the seatbelt safely extracting them from the vehicle.

The driver refused medical treatment.

Motor vehicle accident at the 2000 block of Glendale Avenue. Two vehicle fender bender. Minor damage no injuries.

-11/29 At 4:40 AM.
Mutual aid structure fire response to a residence on Lloyd Lee Rd in the Macedonia Community. No injuries reported.

-11/29 3:00 PM.
Grass/Woods fire response in the 1000 Block of Marilyn Dr. Unattended outside fire out of control. Negative injuries.

-11/30 12:20 PM.
Motor vehicle accident I-59 South at mile marker 68. Suv vs 18 wheeler Negative injuries.

-11/30 1:04 PM.
Motor vehicle accident I-59 North at Exit 69 on the ramp. Truck vs light pole Negative injuries.

-11/30 1:56 PM.
Motor vehicle accident I-59 South at Evelyn Gandy bridge. Single vehicle accident truck vs bridge. Negative injuries.

November 25, just after 4:00 AM, First Responders with the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the area of I-59 South at mile marker 69 to the report of a tractor trailer rollover with injuries.

Upon arrival units found a 2022 International tractor attached to a hopper style trailer resting on the southbound shoulder of the highway with heavy damage. The trailer was loaded with carbon black.

Witnesses stated the semi was traveling North before crossing the center median striking the guard rail and guide wires before coming to a rest on its side.

Unfortunately the adult driver sustained fatal injuries.

โš ๏ธ Clean-up crews will remain on the scene for several more hours, if you have to travel through this area please use extra caution.

November 19, just after 6:00 PM, First Responders with the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to the area of Evelyn Gandy at Monroe Road to the report of a two vehicle accident with injuries.

First arriving units reported the Westbound side of the intersection blocked with a white passenger car and a silver pickup.

All occupants escaped with minor injuries however one adult was transported from the scene by private vehicle. No further injuries were reported.

Units with the MS Highway Patrol also responded to this incident.

On November 15th at approximately 11:20 PM, firefighters from the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of an electrical fire at Keithโ€™s Superstore on the 1800 block of Evelyn Gandy Parkway.

Upon arrival, the units discovered light smoke emanating from the building. As the store employees were closing up for the night, they noticed a loud noise coming from one of the coolers and observed a small fire on its bottom side.

The firefighters promptly disconnected the power to the affected unit to prevent further damage and ensure safety. Fortunately, the only damage they found was minor flooring damage.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.
