“Buenos días, y’all!” Remembering Binnie Turnage

Commissioned International honors the life of Binford “Binnie” Turnage, who went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2026.

For more than four decades, Binnie served as a faithful friend, team captain, and generous supporter of this ministry. Alongside his wife, Jo, he shared Christ’s love throughout Central America and helped establish Mount of Olives Christian School in Nicaragua.

From his familiar “Buenos días, y’all!” to his heartfelt testimony, Binnie brought warmth, humility, and Gospel hope to those around him. His witness led many mission volunteers to faith in Christ, leaving a legacy that continues in the lives he touched.

We thank God for Binnie and extend our love and prayers to Jo, the Turnage family, and all who knew him. May his example inspire us to serve faithfully, love generously, and share the Gospel boldly.

Pastor training at the Thomas Herrington Bible Institute is designed for long-term ministry. Students spend three years studying Scripture, theology, church history, ministry leadership, and evangelism, while Commissioned also supports satellite and modular training in other regions. That investment is practical as well as academic.

These men and women are preparing to serve churches and
communities they already know well, with deeper biblical knowledge and stronger tools for ministry.

Our team has been in Honduras for graduation week, where 29 new pastors graduated and are now heading out to plant new churches and join ministries throughout Honduras. Be in prayer for them as they go!

Yesterday, our team had the opportunity to worship with a local congregation in Los Jobos, Honduras and spend time with the pastors and ministry leaders serving this community.

These are the relationships at the heart of Commissioned International's work.

Across Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and beyond, local pastors faithfully serve the people God has entrusted to their care. They teach Scripture, disciple believers, visit families, pray with their congregations, and provide spiritual leadership through the everyday joys and challenges of ministry.

One of the great privileges of our ministry is coming alongside these pastors through biblical training, encouragement, and long-term relationships that help strengthen the local church.

As we recognize Pastor Appreciation Month, we're especially grateful for the men and women serving Christ in communities throughout Central America.

Would you join us in praying for them this week? Pray for wisdom as they lead, endurance in their ministry, strength for their families, and continued opportunities to share the hope of the Gospel.

360 women gathered at the Bible Institute for our 12th annual Women’s Congress, themed “Instrument of Honor.”

Through God’s Word, worship, and prayer, women were encouraged in their faith and to serve in their churches and communities. We praise God that three women received Christ and one rededicated her life to Jesus! There is a party in heaven!

Hoy celebramos con la Iglesia en Honduras. 🇭🇳

Today, churches across Honduras celebrate Día Nacional de la Biblia, a day set apart to honor the Word of God.

We’re grateful for the pastors, churches, and ministry partners we know in Honduras who faithfully point people to Jesus through Scripture. Their love for God’s Word is evident not just today, but throughout the year as they serve their communities and make Christ known.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105

Today, we celebrate with our brothers and sisters in Honduras and pray that God’s Word continues to shape lives and strengthen the Church.

Most of us naturally pray about what is closest to us because those are the people and needs we carry with us every day. But Jesus continually invites His people to lift their eyes beyond their own lives and care about what God is doing in places they may never see for themselves.

This month, our attention is on Nepal. We’re asking God to strengthen His Church there and to make the hope of the gospel known in communities where Christ is not yet known.

The Great Commission reminds us that the nations belong in the prayers of the Church, even when they feel far away from our everyday lives.

So today, would you join us in praying for Nepal? 🇳🇵

As our partners continue serving in Nepal, we’re reminded that hope is often carried through simple acts of presence and faithfulness.

Please continue to pray for the people of Nepal, for the local Church, and for those responding to the needs in front of them.

May God be near to those who are hurting, and may His Church continue to be a visible expression of His love.

Catastrophic flooding has devastated communities across approximately 150 miles of Nepal, burying homes, farmland, and livestock beneath as much as ten feet of sand and silt. In one village in Kispang alone, more than 42 people lost their lives.

Within days of the flooding, Commissioned International’s national staff began delivering emergency assistance to affected communities. So far, they have provided 50 families with food, clean water, cooking supplies, medicine, sleeping mats, and other essential items. They have also supplied provisions to army and police personnel serving in the disaster zone.

But the need is far from over. Many families have lost not only their homes, but also the land on which they depended. Recovery will take months.

A gift of $100 can provide essential supplies for one family, including a water filter that delivers clean water for years. Every gift helps meet an urgent physical need while creating opportunities for our team to share the hope of Christ.

Please pray for the families affected, our national staff serving on the ground, and the relief team preparing to join them.

Nepal needs our prayers today. 🇳🇵

In the wake of devastating flooding near the Nepal–Tibet border, communities are facing profound loss and uncertainty. Families are grieving, others are still waiting for news, and rescue and recovery efforts continue in difficult conditions.

God has given our ministry one mission with six expressions. Across Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Asia, we equip national pastors to shepherd healthy churches, bring medical and dental care to underserved communities, provide family for the orphaned and vulnerable, educate children in both knowledge and the truth of the gospel, care for the missionaries who serve far from home, and mobilize teams of everyday believers to labor alongside them all.
