And this guy right here. Wow. Huge thanks to Chef Jose, a newbie to our island cuisine world but will make a huge dent in time! He helped cook Seafood Under the Stars this year and did a cooking demo last minute when Throwdown had to be canceled. Has to learn to talk more for a demo but those of us lucky enough to sample the ceviche made with sheepshead from Hatteras Seafoods will tell you, he can ditch the microphone and prep the ceviche. We'll just wait!

Every year, the USCG bring their boats to DATD for kids and adults to tour. Everyone loves the opportunity to check out their life saving equipment up close and maybe even inspires a few future recruits! They also participate in the Blessing and other community outreach such as Breakfast with Santa, CHSS Graduation, the Christmas Parade, along with other things. Thanks!

Every year, Sydney and crew create and DONATE the wreath for the Blessing of the Fleet. The beautiful creativity that goes into these wreaths are incredible and the generosity is much appreciated. The circular wreath represents the unbroken bond between the community and those watermen and women who have left us and its placement into the water commits their memory back to the water that shapes all of our lives. We'd like to offer a few more shout outs to some special people and their contributions to our event. First, is Bill Clough Ford in Windsor, NC. These folks come every year and they bring HOMEMADE ice cream, and they give it away. Now. We have HEARD it's because once they give away whatever they bring, they get to go fishing for the rest of the time they're here so they figure homemade ice cream is the ticket... not sure if that's true but if it is, it's certainly a win-win situation and we hope they got to get some good fishing in before heading back to Windsor. đŸ˜‰

Hats off to the Day at the Docks committee for one of the most awesome DATD events yet! Christinia Hicks, Karla Jarvis, Laurie Parker and Natalie Scott, thank you! And to the literal dozens and dozens of volunteers, especially Brian Surratt who stepped in late and managed the stage and sound, a huge, heartfelt thank you. We have volunteers who cook and serve at Seafood Under the Stars, pour the w**e, unending legwork behind the scenes, setting up tables and chairs, Fessenden crew who brings down bleachers, media and promotion, selling shirts, assisting attendees, the list goes on and on and we appreciate you all. See you next year, on the docks.
