After nearly 12 hours, a missing 5-year-old Verona boy was found Thursday night, July 14.

Monroe County is facing a high potential for areal and flash flooding today and tonight. Many streams and rivers are already near flood stage which will make this situation worse. First responders are ready to do their job but help do your part to keep everyone safe. If water is across the roadway do not attempt to drive though it. If your home is prone to flooding, now is the time to make a plan. Water levels will likely rise rapidly today. Remember, flood waters hide many dangers and can contain many contaminates. Call for help instead of taking unnecessary risk.

We had a great training session for Monroe County Search and Rescue this AM. We get a lot of questions on how thermal works and its effectiveness. We made a quick comparison video this AM, just imagine this is at night, the image on the left would be totally blank and the image on the right would look exactly the same! Announcement: Monroe SAR and divers from other departments will be conducting training operations at McAlpine lake starting in the morning,Saturday August 17th. These trainings enable members to prepare for actual emergencies. Please be cautious if in the area as excess vehicles will be parked in the area and divers will be in the water.
