About Us:
The Peyton Heart Project was inspired by several stories including that of a 13 year old boy named Peyton who died by su***de. During Peyton’s young life he had experienced a tremendous amount of bullying by his peers. Many of us know far too well what the negative effects of bullying are on a child and how difficult it can be to believe that it will ever get better. Far too often bullying leads to depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Sometimes these issues can increase the likelihood of su***de. We are taking these delicate hearts, each one made by hand and each one representing the delicate heart of a life lost to su***de, and we are attaching an inspiring quote to them that you can download from our website. We, along with hundreds of volunteers in over 60 countries are leaving them in public places around the world for people to find during their everyday lives. We hope the hearts cause people to stop for a moment and reflect on the lives lost to su***de each day, on bullying and on the fact that everyone's life matters. We want to leave people with a feeling that there is still good in the world and we would like to inspire others to join us in our mission of kindness. If you would like to help us spread the Peyton Heart Project and its message in your community please go to our website at www.thepeytonheartproject.org and learn how you can become involved. Peyton's story, along with a number of other stories, inspired us to create this project. We wanted to shed light on the issues of su***de and mental health for all groups of people, not just teens and those who were bullied. Some of the issues we focus on do not necessarily represent Peyton. This is because the Peyton Heart Project is not specifically about Peyton. We are honoring his memory by using his name for our global awareness campaign but the project is not specifically about Peyton. We would like to thank Peyton's parents, David and Jacki James, for allowing us to use Peyton's name for this global awareness project.
***A disclaimer from Peyton's mother: "Although the Peyton Heart Project supports those in the LGBTQ+ community, Peyton was not gay, bisexual or transgender."***
