• Drywall is going up
• Lights are being installed
• Deck railings are taking shape
• Childcare spaces were framed out
• And plenty more is happening throughout the building

Every week, the vision gets a little easier to see, and we are getting closer to welcoming our community through the doors.

We're excited to share that Mill Street Market has been awarded a $25,000 grant from The Americana Foundation to support our Food Entrepreneurship & Local Producer Development Initiative!

This funding will help local farmers, food producers, and entrepreneurs access training, technical assistance, product development support, and the tools they need to grow sustainable food businesses and reach new markets.

We're grateful to The Americana Foundation for investing in local producers, rural entrepreneurship, and a stronger regional food system.

This week, all four walk-in coolers were built out, sidewalks were poured, and the childcare classroom walls went in!

Big news for Mill Street Market!

We're excited to share that Mill Street Market has been awarded a grant from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO)!

This funding will help us make key infrastructure investments to keep MSM moving forward, including support for purchasing a refrigerated cargo van for local producer pickups and deliveries, as well as security systems throughout the campus.

These may sound like behind-the-scenes investments, but they are essential to building a safe, efficient, and sustainable campus that can support local farmers and food producers, small businesses, community programs, and the people we serve.

We're grateful to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity for investing in Mill Street and helping us turn this vision into a reality.

Please join us in welcoming Jody Ziegler to the Mill Street Market team!

Jody joins us as our Farmer and Producer Engagement Coordinator (Produce Manager), bringing strong experience in produce management, retail operations, merchandising, inventory, customer service, and team leadership. She also brings hands-on gardening experience and a genuine passion for locally grown food.

In her role at Mill Street Market, Jody will help build relationships with local farmers and producers, support product onboarding and inventory, and help create a fresh, welcoming, high-quality Farm Stop experience for our customers. Her experience managing produce ordering, quality, displays, inventory, and staff will be especially valuable as we prepare to open this winter.

We’re excited to have Jody join the growing Mill Street Market team and help strengthen the connections between local producers and our community.

Please join us in welcoming Starr Older to the Mill Street Market team!

Starr joins us as Childcare Director for Little Sprouts Childcare, bringing 20 years of experience in early childhood education and childcare leadership.

Throughout her career, Starr has worked as both a teacher and a director, with experience in licensing, staffing, family engagement, enrollment, program operations, and launching a new childcare center.

As we prepare to open Little Sprouts Childcare at Mill Street Market in early 2027, Starr will help build a nurturing, high-quality program where children can learn, play, and grow, while supporting families and strengthening our community.

We're excited to have Starr join Allison, Anne, Stephen, and the growing Mill Street Market team as we bring Little Sprouts to life.

Senator Stabenow will reflect on the evolving landscape of American food and agricultural policy and the challenges ahead. Drawing on her public service career and her tenure as Chair of the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, she'll discuss how policy, funding, research, and markets can work together to strengthen the nation's food economy and build a more resilient future for producers, consumers, and rural communities.
