Hastings Oral History Initiative Furthermore, we strive to facilitate the creation of and reflection upon meaningful histories that help us better understand the community in which we live.

The Hastings Oral History Initiative (HOHI) is a community online depository/archive for oral history interviews and related materials, which provides public access to digitized oral history interviews and transcriptions of interviews for educational and research purposes.The mission of the HOHI is to provide an easily accessible public space for all practitioners of oral history to collect and p

reserve oral history interviews. Thus, we seek to provide public access to oral histories so that others may engage in and make connections to our local, national, and global communities through shared and collaborative history.

How can oral history help tell the stories of individuals and communities left out of our traditional historical narratives? Find out this Sunday, October 8th from 2:00-4:00pm at Prairie Loft Center for Outdoor and Agricultural Learning during our second community workshop. JJ Kahle, a Nebraska native who received the Champion of Change award from the Obama White House, will be speaking about the importance of sharing and documenting the experiences of our regional LGBTQIA+ community.
